i'm not sure what you mean...
my personal opinions on dress and sexuality are far far away from 'western' culture- which treats women as sexual objects meant to entice men & to sell products;
what i meant by my statement is that SKIN in and of itself is not necessarily such a bad thing; but within the context of western culture, which commercializes sex, it becomes a detriment to the mindset i personally would like my people to have;
she could show all the skin she wants in say- a zulu ceremony; but in the context of where we are-- i just don't personally support it

So bottom line then, is that she should hide her beautiful skin and form because revealing it sexualizes her to a very far <span style="text-decoration: line-through">right-winged set</span> oh sorry, radicals . This same group, cannot see beyond her arms to her intellect, to her grace, to what she has to offer as a First Lady.

how can i be conformist when no one agrees with me?
i'm totally against the grain on this as most people don't see michelle's dressingas a problem...butif you know me i've never changed on this issue...i never supported the western philosophy that women are sex objects...(it is clear that this is their philosophy since their men cover up when on official business)...as a rastaman you should already know that i don't push the 'skin-out' ting...
and i find it amusing that no one can answer my question on if it is ok for barack to wear a muscle-shirt and short pants at white house functions...i'm sure he has beautiful skin too
so what's the problem?
yes i bring up zulu...because in zululand it was a natural thing...not billboards of women in bikinis to sell products and sexualizing everything...i used that as an example of CONTEXT

p.s.- i've nerver heard ort read anything on this subject...this is all my opinion;

perhaps it is you who are not jamaican because every jamaican knows rasta-woman dress in long skirts and no sleeveless things; i guess that makes them right-wing conservatives;

the difference between here and there (zulu or other ancient cultures) is that we are in the west so the same innocence regarding the physical structure is not here in the west where women's sexuality is a business for profits;
i never saw my grandmother or mother go to work or the streets in haltar-tops & such...(my mother never even wore pants or skirts above the knees)...if that makes them right-wing conservatives so be it

I saw some pics of women attending a dinner for state governors and their spouses hosted by the Obamas recently. Quite a few women wore <span style="font-style: italic">'bare shoulder' </span>gowns, including the governor of Kansas, the <span style="font-style: italic">silver haired </span>Kathy Sebelius who I thought looked stunning, and of course, First Lady Michelle Obama who looked gorgeous, as she usually does, at those occasions. One would have to be excessively prudish to criticize Michelle for "showing skin" on those occasions.

The state of the union, in my opinion, is another matter that will require a different kind of attire. I would laught if Obama had showed up to give his speech wearing a tuxedo. But that's just my opinion.
