continuing on the theme of racism discussion week on j'cans.com;


anyway; the chamaicans control the import/export business, have one of if not THE largets bakery in j-a;
now i see in one thread they say the white holdovers from colonial period get preferential ting a yaad;

but what about the chinese? (and to alesser extent the indians- but that is another thread);
did/do they receive any special privileges a yaad or is it just that they had less obstacles than blacks back in the day thus were able to build more during the time- businesses & capital

In rasist society there is a division, and thhbose who don't practice it suffers from that behavoir.

the Oriental is seemingly xenophobic in outlook..across the board u wi find this...so the ? is, wat is worse, racism r xenophobia? missa chin would give u credit <span style="font-weight: bold">AND</span> sell u decent food products...di white man would give u credit <span style="font-style: italic">while </span>selling u substandard food products...mek u dont wich is the lesser evil if dat is applicable in dis case

The Chinese may be xenophobic when it comes to family matters, but dem is definately not xenophobic when it comes to business!

Afta dem lef China and go to nearly every country on this planet fi start shop.

My grandfather was telling me today how when he was in Tanzania in the 70's, a boat with 1500 Chinese docked next to his and his only memory of Dar Es Salaam is thousands of newly arrived Chinese immigrants inna di place!
Well I going tomorrow fi check on them.

Can you or the others just provide us with an ounce (writing this just reminded me of a GF who always incorporated ounce of in her reasoning) of evidence to say that White Jamaicans got special privileges that has held from the end of slavery till now?

Anyway I personally meant all groups they were all represented in the 21 familes to be overthrown.

Funny how we hide Black Jamaicans racist attitudes towards Chinese, Indians and White Jamaicans. It is no wonder that they try their darnest to keep the business in their families. I would too!

i can't do that, just using logical inference...besides i didn't actually say they did; i said i saw it said in another thread;
but common sense tells me that being the top-caste previously they would have maintained some of their wealth, contacts &amp; influence...that said; i don't buy into the notion that black jamaicans are still held back by race to the extent of the old days; i think much of the holding back in this time is self-inflicted

The poorest man I've known in Jamaica (him dead from being poor) was a white man.

The richest man I know in Jamaica is a dark kin black man.


I think this argument holds more true in countries like South Africa where it's so evident that it's sickening.

You are mixing up the chronology...the resentment came AFTER these groups discriminated against Blacks not before. I don't think I would include the indians in any of this. You are justifying racing and if I call you on it you're going to say it's not warranted. You are always taking up for the Whites, Chinese and near Whites, making excuses for their racial discrimination, putting down Black Jamaicans and blaming us for problems that we did not create. Remember Manley who you detest falls into the category of near White.

Re: the Chinese I have no firsthand knowledge of this but what I have heard is that they would rooks off the Black women and breed dem but they would not as a rule marry them. Again, this is what I have heard. I have no firsthand knowledge. Hopefully those who do, will comment. I do see some people mixed with Chinese and no father in sight though. Don't know if this is typical.
