Re: the Chinese I have no firsthand knowledge of this but what I have heard is that they would rooks off the Black women and breed dem but they would not as a rule marry them. Again, this is what I have heard. I have no firsthand knowledge. Hopefully those who do, will comment. I do see some people mixed with Chinese and no father in sight though. Don't know if this is typical. </div></div>That us what the present jamaican commissioner of police father did to him.
He never met him until he was an adult.

Oh, come ON! There is no shortage of men of all races who are absent or uninvolved fathers. The Chinese aren't known for this.

i had some chiney neighbors in washington garden...the chiney man was there but mi neva si di black ooman who was the yute mother; only di likkle half-chiney yute

i definitely saw a lot of chinese-mixed yutes in duhaney park; i can't say whether their fathers were around or not

The Chinese aren't known for this. </div></div>Probably because it was whathappened in the majoroty of cases in Jamaica. the black men most althpugh not maeeied supported their children, The Chinese usually denue the children in th emajoroty of cases.

It comes down to pressure from the parents. I know a Jamaican Chinese woman who is now Canadian (What a mouthful!), who married a white man - a very nice, handsome, and comfortable white man.
Her Jamaican Chinese parents (especially her mom) cried for weeks and threatened to kill themselves, anything to stop the wedding. They got married anyway, and the elderly Chinese parents are happy to have grandchildren and are good with the white husband now.

Not saying that they have a monopoly on this. You asked a specific question about Jamaican Chinese and racism. If they will rooks off Black Jamaican women, breed dem but rarealy marry dem sounds like racial discrimination to me.

I experienced it mysely. All through life they don't even hint that they are against it,but do everything after yoy get too serious. That's the strategy.

I was pondering where to give my 2 cents, here or in the white jamaican tred. I choose this one because yuh mention chinese and indians and it a shorter tred.

Now I won't give away too much info because surnames in Jamaica are well known because I am speaking from what I observed in my own family which are made up of indians, chinese and white Jamaicans AND their friends and associates. How, you ask is this racial mix possible - A very long family story.

Anyway take it from me, the chinese, indians and white Jamaicans do practice racism and it is common place. I grew up in Jamaica around all the BS from the different family camps. They respect each other but fi di 'black' section of the family - man a diffrant torey dat fi real. It still goes on today and as Dr. Dudd said, it is hidden very well. The test comes when the son or daughter decides to get seriously intimate with a 'black' Jamaican. They will eat and drink with you; clubbing and party with you; go pan a few 'mission' and 'flexes' wid yuh; even invite yuh fi dinner, drinks and bbq round their houses BUT try yuh bess if yuh tink yuh gwine marry innah dem fambily. Those that do have to put up with a mountain a BS. However I feel things are starting to change with the next generation just a tiny bit.

1) I don't know if Chinese Jamaican men breed and leave. Maybe they do but I haven't seen this happen. I do know many black Jamaicans do breed and leave their women. Why are you calling out the Chinaman for this but not the black Jamaican male?
2) You want black men to marry black women. Fine. But when Chinese men marry Chinese women you think they're racist?

Black Jamaicans couldn't be racist by definition towards any other race in Jamaica during and after slavery up until now. We had NO power, ECONOMIC OR OTHERWISE.. to pull it off.

Ppl talking of blacks being racist now, is a joke, and an evolutionary concept put forward by some to clandestinely make blacks look like the perps, while satisfying their own agenda.

There can be NO racism without ECONOMIC power...discriminate against them yes.

When blacks in America were being lynched in earlier times, and shot dead by white cops, unprovoked; no one spoke of "race/bias crime." Such terminology was nowhere to be found in any Social Science text.. Now if blacks attack someone because of how they wear their hair, all of a sudden it is a bias crime...don't fall for it.

Well by that definition the chinese in Jamaica cant be racist then because they hold no power,......I would suggest that they,and other ethnic groups in jamaica are protectionists.
