Legit question....why don't peeps just rent a car instead of getting a private taxi?....or have someone they know pick them up (maybe that would be just as bad, depending on who the person is & who he knows)

Mi agree wid yu.. Wash out cheap jeans an many time washed unironed white t shut. (mi fi get ah suh mi always dress up!!!!).. an on purpose doah put on deodarant.. Naw lie teif naw rab funky smellin sumadi..

The singel point of greatest danger is the airport...

I dont beleive that returning residents are targeted... because they are returning resident.. theives look for the easiest mark and these are the naive...

I'd be interested to know of the 27 cases how many happened at Sangster and how many at Manley.

I think this is more of a Manley problem than Sangster. Especially since a lot of flight into Manley arrive in the evening while Sangster is more of a daytime affair. Plus the drive along the Palisadoes is probably where dem get catch.

But mi affi gree with Wahalla, some a de ppl dem when dem come back from farrin look the part. Caw dem waan fi impress di fambly bout how farrin nice an how well off them are since dem migrate.

Remind me of my own case although it hasnt reached that bad. When I landed as soon as my passport was checked and I was on my way through customs, I heard somebody sing out 'She a stay a xxxx', in just a few seconds he could get that information from the woman at the counter. Then I went to change some money. The woman ask me my name and she was rather loud, all eyes in my direction to hear that. I wrote it down instead but was pretty mad. Remind me to be on my Ps and Qs

Whenever I fly in and out of Jamaica I try to avoid Manley International, except as a local flight.
About a year after Gilbert when the roads were still bad, I flew into Sangster then convinced a Cab Driver to drive me to Kingston on a charter.

Even the year I got shot, then had a bad accident, suffering a broken leg and a broken arm between the two I still flew into Sangster then made my way to Kingston.
On the way back I drove to Tinson Pen, got an Air Taxi to Montego Bay, then continued from there.

I would not say you have to dress extravagantly to be targeted, it not too hard to determine who is a returning Resident and who are merely Jamaicans visiting the Rock for a minute. I think these cats will rob anyone, the RRs are targeted because it likely they may have more bounty.

In all seriousness, I would laugh after how some people were dressed because all the gold and other shiny surfaces could be blinding. Especially once I hit the Toronto airport.

You can tell it is to show off how good they are doing in farrin even if it means all their wealth is on their backs or arond their necks.

When I travel I rarely wear jewelry - I dont wear jewelry as a rule anyways so I am not gonna do so for a plane trip. And going to JA means causal clothes for me. Not my best jeans and new boots.....it looks all to damn hot and uncomfortable to me.


But it one sense they still can spot you a mile away.

I remember this guy tyrna sell me and my mom stuff but he picked us out of a crowd of people. I asked why he came straight to us cause it was really obvious. He said because only those who come from farrin cant take the heat and sweat so. I didnt feel so hot that I was sweating profusely or anything but it was still more so than those around us.

I laughed but I come then see how there are many ways for them to figure you out from the rest.

Well personally to get to Tinson Pen the route is more dodgy for me than to get to Manley.

I would never go through the hassle of driving/taxi/bus from Sangster if is Kgn I going.

you know Geneva, after I read some of the comments and thought about how I see ppl carry on when I travel, then I realized what a question I just asked.

I was using myself as a guage because I dont wear fancy clothes and little to no jewelry becuase I find it uncomfortable to dress like that on a plane - unlike &quot;America's Net Top Models&quot; I have seen.

I guess I wanted to know how someone like me who isnt doing the gold and black knee high boots with the Baby Phat jeans with the silver and pink trim, gets targeted from the rest. We all give up clues in different ways and wanted to know what I may be doing without being aware.

Looks like just showing up will put a mark on your forehead though.

Well I feel safer. I don't know anyone in the country that knows me but all of Kingston might, I rather take my chances that way. As for Tinson Pen the journey is short and persons taking me overrstand the rules.
