What is the big deal?

I remember when the Queen came to our island one and did a motorcade, I could not see what was so big about her presence, neither did the whole class because no one waved back. We were accompanied by our History teacher.

On a second visit we were with a mumu History teacher from Guyana who seem to have felt the honor and forced some in the class to wave. You should see how he was grinning. It did put a question mark on what he thought of the same History he was teaching

As an institution I have little time for the Monarchy.... However as head of state of the UK I think she has done a fantastic job. I would not wave at any of them....

As head of the commonweath we could not ask for a better Head. From Kaunda, Nyrerie, Mandela, Manley, Maurice Bishop, Nruhmah all have sung praise poems to the lady. The fact of the matter she tore a strip out of Maggie on more than one occasion over issues from Apartheid to the invasion of Grenada. Even my hero Samora Machel has good things to say about her personally.. aparently at all commonweath confrences she is teased by all the leaders of the small countries and apparently she gives as good as she gets

No interlectual gaint she has changed with the world around her. She is commited to the commonweath as much as I am. I beleive we have a historical connections with all these former colonies...

And if we follow that ridculous one drap rule so often touted on here she is a black woman.... Phil the greek is certainsly a black man!

yes she had but primary school education.

I admire hierarchy and classification. But, as for the Monarchy, historically I would say the family has gone wild and out of class more with her in rule.

There is no breach of Protocol. The President of the US is the KING of the US, the Queen is not higher than the President! Michelle is the US Queen. So it's one Queen hugging another Queen.

Breaking Protocol

America's First Lady Michelle Obama broke royal protocol during a reception at Buckingham Palace when she placed her arm around the Queen.
But rather than take offence, Her Majesty took the unusual step of returning the gesture by putting her arm round Mrs Obama's waist - almost as if to confirm the special relationship the politicians are so keen to play up.

The extraordinary scenes took place yesterday as Barack Obama made his first visit to Britain as U.S. President.

According to eyewitnesses, the exchange occurred as the Queen was waiting in the Throne Room following the official group picture with the national leaders here for the G20 Summit.

One said: 'There was a bit of a bottleneck as all of the leaders filed out so the Queen started chatting to Michelle Obama. She appeared to look up at her and make a comment about how tall she was.
'As she did, she put her arm around Mrs Obama and rested her gloved hand on the small of her back.'

Almost simultaneously, Mrs Obama put her arm around the Queen's shoulders rather more firmly.
'The pair then looked at their feet and appeared to be discussing their shoes.
'The Queen then dropped her arm and, a few seconds later, Michelle did the same. The entire exchange lasted around eight to ten seconds but was absolutely extraordinary.'

No-one - including the ladies-in-waiting standing nearby - could believe their eyes. In 57 years, the Queen has never been seen to make that kind of gesture and it is certainly against all protocol to touch her.
'But she didn't seem to mind a bit and was smiling and joking throughout,' the eyewitness said.

A so some british women dress even in spring,sometimes in summer too,michelle obviously comes from a climate where its normal to dress with flesh showing as the weather allows .
