Has anyone ever questioned why it is &quot;protocol&quot; not to touch the &quot;queen&quot;? I'm sure it was made up by the town-criers. I've always wondered if it had anything to do with those commonwealth countries they robbed which are mostly so-called minority populated.

I can only imagine the poor &quot;queen&quot; dying for someone with class, grace and style, not to mention some character, to give her a hug.

I very much doubt that the queen set the rules on protocols,some of <span style="font-weight: bold">these protocols although a bit dated is very much a part of a long tradition of the british royal family,</span> and I feel in a way is what gives the royals an air of mystique,...if everyone were allowed to go back slapping her and doing high fives with the queen then it just wouldnt be the same. </div></div>

thank u smy. mi seh - ppl are all over the place with this. i've never believed that Michelle broke protocol, because a lot of those eedyat rules are directed at &quot;subjects&quot; of the Queen, which, as an American, Michelle is NOT, while the PM of Australia is.

there's a rule about shaking hands, for example. u can shake hands with the queen - IF she extends her hand to u first. don't know where ppl getting this thing about ur not supposed to touch her.

then i've read where they say <span style="font-weight: bold">because </span>elizabeth hugged michelle first - if a protocol was breached then it was elizabeth that did so, and it would have been her prerogative. so if michelle were a subject, she would be in the right to hug back.

As I stated in my post a few pages back,there was no fuss made here about the hug up,..it was merely noted,it is not something that has been done very often,and in the past the very few that has overstepped the mark has had their hand slapped diplomatically.

Michelle has brought a certain charm to the proceedings so it was all part of her charm to see her hug up the queen,regardless of who hug who first,...the british press hasnt made a big deal out of this,...but it does make good fodder for robust discussions on black oriented boards such as this one...dont you think.
