That woman in part 2, the one going to church is CRAZY...she is old-fashioned and out-moded...talking to the guy, ?Charles as if he is a "child" too domineering and leave no room for open communication...how old is this video?

...and children shouldn't follow rules and regulations because of "punitive measures" they should "abide by them" *chukkle* not out of fear, but because they understand why they should.

the only person I can rate so far is the Principal. She at least talks to the kids on a level they can grasp to point out their issues and actually encourages them when they show a spark.

But those parents

I cant believe the ish they chat and think it prepares any of their kids for life.

Threat of beatings and physical discpline is like Wahalla said, it is just obedience and provides no internal growth or personal skill sets for the kids ot navigate life and to make well thought out decisions on their own when they need to.

Yes, their house is to have rules but other than "do as I say" there is no explanation to the children as to why any of these actions benefit them.

There is no solving the root of a child's behaviour and again, providing tools for them to move forward. Just threat of things being taken away and denied.

all I can say is I rate my parents higher now after watching these videos.

they had strength to but that &quot;beat it into you&quot; mentality aside and being far more nuturing instead.

They never gave me the &quot;I walked 10 miles barefoot on the hot ground to school&quot; stories to motivate me. They gave me a sense of where I came from; what they scarificed for me to have; and told me to go forward and do my thing. Not this B.S. this woman and man are chatting bout kids in farrin dont know hardship etc. and that is what is wrong with them all

And I still managed to turn out reasonably well
But I wouldnt be surprised if their girls end up knocked up before college done.

I watched it as well with that thought in minde and while ignoring the 'made for tv' aspect, it was good to know there are families in Jamaica that still make the effort for their kids to do what is right by telling them that education is the key

I think the Jamaican Parents should have been investigated for child abuse.... check the collective weight of the family before they added the two visitors?
Then the little gyal pickney have a whole packet of gummy bears in church?

Notice, they chose a family that attends a very tame Anglican Church where greatest danger is one of those choir hats putting out your eyes. Can you imagine it was a brimstone and fiyah Pentecostal Church?

An opportunity for Jamaica bashing but it backfired!
Don't see what the excitement is about. The guy &amp; girl from uk are both dysfunctional. They had no respect for their parents. One a school drop out with no interest in school; the other a cop out on society because his dad left and was angry with the world.

The Jamaican parents set both of them straight and they returned to the uk learning to love themselves and realise wat a clock a strike in the real world as they admitted. They openly said they love the Jamaican family and the teacher/principal too - even though the Jamaican parents are somewhat old fashioned.

My most respect I reserve for one person only... the 19 year guy who supports his siblings on his own after his dad left and try to avoid the shortcuts.

These are the people that the government of Jamaica should recognise and give scholarships or the opportunity to better themselves

The bit where they were on the family farm and stuff is good too and the cash reward for their hard work - No spoilt brats there.

What did those parents do for a living ???

Acvtualluy that was another issue that I had with that ooman.. the guy told her that she did not want him to go to church... she bullied him... He was old enough to make that choice as to his participation in any superstious ceromony... She is into obdience not discpiline...


Still it reminded me of the Bisphop Tutu joke.. When the white man came they had the bible and we had the land: now we have the bible and they have the land....

when I saw the program I was again struck by all those burgular bars, they must have been put up for purely decoration as some one told me that it is now simply follow fashion...
