Given the fact that when it is convenient we brag and boast about how blacks have an inherent need to nurture and support the extended family I would have thought the connection would instantly have been made.

Then you start adding things such as the claim that is often made that there are a great number of teenaged pregnancies followed by baby fathers leaving the scene of the crimes poste haste.
Add to that the failure of the Jamaican State to provide a safe, productive environment for the ones left behind in the face of rising prices and increasing crises, then the scope of the problem comes into focus.

It is a gross misrepresentation to reduce the all that down to a claim of a sense of entitlement of Jamaicans receiving remittances from their family and friends abroad.

It is funny some of the comments coming from certain folks in this thread who sat down for many years claiming that all is fine in Jamaica and only the poster claiming that something is wrong have a problem.... now they are calling Jamaicans beggy-beggy?

Maybe remittances and beggy is what cause the various bad governments in Jamaica to survive in the face of destruction?
The remittances and handouts have helped to diffuse the pent up rage that would otherwise bust and run over if coupled with a hungry belly.

Every society that does not have a welfare system has a high incidence of begging, stealing and murder.
Th reason why developed countries have weafare system is not for thebenefit of thebenefitiaries, but fr the benefit of the citizenry as awhole. It reduces crime and cost less than the welfare system cost. <span style="font-size: 14pt">It is normal to have beggers . Thes peope cannot cteate jobs. They have to live some how. It is either begging or stealing. did you know that the only for of life that does not steal is theones that have others supoorting them? </span>
