Re: Rastafari indigenous village..wat a hell
One of the reasons I became disenchanted with the 12 Tribes of Israel is because the leadership refused to use the great economic and political power it potentially had to effect changes on a broad front. The leadership even refused to make the 12 Tribes Profitable. While it was collecting dues by the bucketfuls the money was spent to prop up the Executive and to sink into a failing quest to make sure 144K had a place to go in Shashamane.... the Executive first of course.
12 Tribes concerts, Dances and even the religious meetings were a spectacle in its own right but the very talented artistes who talents was commandeered by the House were paid pennies and most times got zilch.
It was a larger disease throughout the Rastafarian Community and indeed Bob Marley many times had to defend himself from being styled a capitalist and material dread. Times has changed but it seems some old crutches are hard to let go.
It is worth little to me to hear or see Jamaicans crying in their collective cups saying some foreigner stole what we consider to be our birthright.
Hollywood has long demonstrated that it can do native better that the natives, in fact Universal Studios opened the first Bob Marley themed cafe on its City Walk and it has been a very profitable undertaking for them.
I was there the week when it was been previewed but was to lazy to walk around to it, I never really got to see what it looks like, but it is in Orlando.
I think as long as the energy and the money is there others will rush into the void.
