2nd you say emigrate and lost certain values...how so? Would the Jamaicans living in Brooklyn be any more organized if they had remain in Jamaica?

4th from my overstanding the Jamaican voting block, to the extent that they vote as a block is very powerful in Brooklyn and other Boroughs when taken together. Am I right or wrong?
5th if you do find that there is a need for organizations or more organizations why don't you try to form one or two?
If I'm not mistaken, Yvette Clark, the daughter of Jamaican immigrants (former NY Councilwoman, Una Clark is her mom), is the member of Congress representing that area.
If there is stagnation as you say, you should first identify the factors that have caused that condition, then seek to address them.
That's exactly what this guy is saying. every other group such mexican, cubans, korian, chinese etc form their community when they come to america except blacka, thus by 2013 they shall exterminate all of us because we have no support system.

BTW...they turned out in over a million strong...fimmi poor Jamaican flag was one of about 6 in the whole crowd...strangely enuff, they, err many came over AND thanked me for the support... Liberte !!!

As clarification I have lived in Brooklyn for 38 years since I was 13 years old. What I am alluding to here is how other Caribbeans, at least here in New York, view Jamaicans: trend setters; big Island folks; hip; a notch up on the sophistication ladder.
Think about it, Jamaica has had a profound influence on American culture, perhaps world culture, in terms of speech, dress, dance, food, etc. And of course, we have made our mark in sports.
But over my 38 years I’ve seen the emergence of the Hispanics, Koreans, Vietnamese, Russians ; Chinese; Pakistani; Indians…you name it. Many of whom rose to economic heights from our purchasing power. These groups have their own lending institutions, institutions of learning; business corridors and voting blocks. Hence they enjoy the benefits of power. We for the most part are still regarded as either happy dancing natives…rum and roti--as a friend so poignantly puts it or entrepreneurs of the nefarious kind.
I thought we were smarter than that. I thought by now we would have figured out that the individual can survive here but true empowerment comes through collective action…that’s really how America works.
So my question is, that spirit, that “thing”, that has allowed us to influence the world, why have we not translate it into real power…especially where have huge numbers.

these groups did not achieve what they did simply because they were united, but because they were selected.
all those groups you mentioned are what is considered in social engineering as wedge groups. They are used to fill the chasm between the blacks and the whites.
If we Jamaicans has some been fooled into believing that we are some sort of Indians like west Indians we could achieve much more. some time ago we had formed west Indian Social Clubs,and even got federal grants and buildings to operate them. as soon as we start including black Americans, every thing changed.
first we start having strange people attending events there and shooting people with weapons that they some how got past the strict metal detector. then it got so politically involved that we simply couldn't put the time and money in it to preserve it.
just as the middle eastern people had their break.
Where they now. It is not about how strong or united we are.
It is all about how <span style="font-weight: bold">favoured</span> have we kept ourselves. I see them taking even gas stations from middle eastern nationals.
That is because they are who they are and nothing more.
o all those groups are enjoying their good fortune, because it is a matter of fortune, at the pleasure of the big uncle.
