Which is the point I was trying to make the PNP was never in its life since Independence held accountable for any of its actions, in or out of power. They literally got away with murder to say nothing of the destruction of the country.

jamaicans love the rock but i don't know about patriotic-- we've always worshipped <span style="font-style: italic">farrin</span>...it would take the threat from an external enemy for j'cans to come together for the common good;
until a real 'peoples' leader/s' emerges with the guts to fight for the rock it will be business, i mean corruption as usual

let's be real; certainly can't speak for all but i know many j'cans rate anything from farrin over yaadi ting...
perhaps it has changed now but from my experience if it come from england or merca no matter the quality it was a-ok;
it was people like miss lou &amp; others who started to insist j'cans can respect their own culture as much as foreigners respect theirs

I assume you are an American citizen and you are using the words of a lady who herself left Jamaica and said she was not coming back, <span style="font-style: italic">(presumably she also acquired a Canadian Citizenship)</span>, to declare that Jamaicans do not respect their own culture because we crave foreign things.

May I ask what foreign things do we crave?

Tek for example that paawty that was in power for over 10 years when we saw the escalation of crime, and the economic downturn we experienced...they are still in power although voted out. Jamaica is one country whre it appears that the Opposition does nothing but talk talk talk talk....

As we know, they are contented to run Jamaica into the ground while sharing the spoils only between themselves... ~ The imbedded system can only be gotten rid of, by popular upheaval and uprising that would be violent and lead to dictatorship to re-vamp the system.
