Dudd - I've been a CPA* for about 7 years now. In Kings County NY, Baltimore County MD and the Distric of Columbia.

Not to mention the work I do for Catholic Charities Immigration Services - that probably stretches back about 11 years now.

There's corners of America's immigration systems that I've seen that you'll never be able to imagine much less spell properly.

I often notice, you never want to admit when you're wrong about something - even if it's out & out blatantly wrong.

The immigrant promptly kicked th ecruiser, and was arrested.
That was in new york. and during last winter. Now of course that is only one case. as usual, but ....

my understanding was that NY police had a don't ask dont tell immigration policy..so the police would not have arrested anybody him on an immigration charge...if he wanted to be deported he should have gone directly to ICE

I am not sure I will have to look into.

If you are still in the USA Customs Area, however far that has extended, you can be excluded which is slightly different from if you have been allowed in the USA by whatever means and have to be forcibly removed.

It is also true that Immigration Law id not evenly applied and the closer you are to the boarder areas and out of the glare of the high paid immigration city lawyers the more arbitrary the practice is. It is also true that in an Immigration Sweeps, whatever little right that an Illegal Alien might have can be denied but even then it still very time consuming to physically get someone out of the USA, especially if they get legal assistance.

I am not sure I will have to look into.

That is the law they are stretching with mant intresting strategies. In some cases the sherrif even take victims towithin the100 miles limits and the ICe agent take posession of them and treat them as if they just discover them there.

Not true. Talk to some deportees who are still scratching their heads in confusion, as they still can't figure out why they were tax paying citizens one day and a deportee the next. My husband's stepdad was deported and it was only after he died (fighting his case from Jamaica) did we learn that his personal details were stolen and used by a criminal.

They do NOT need a reason...these days.
