We are a coalition of GLBT activists who will no longer tolerate American dollars being spent to subsidize bigotry and violence in Jamaica.</span></div></div>
But we'll send our money to other countries all year round to terrorize muslim families.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">How have Jamaican officials responded?
We would prefer not to launch a boycott and we are troubled that we are forced to do so. Unfortunately, reasonable and responsible calls to end the hostile climate against GLBT people have been rebuffed by Jamaican officials.
In March 2009, Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding said: “We are not going to yield to the pressure, whether that pressure comes from individual organizations, individuals, whether that pressure comes from foreign governments or groups of countries, to liberalize the laws as it relates to buggery.”</div></div>
So basically they're are wasting their money as a site

Won’t this harm the Jamaican people?
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">We have nothing against the Jamaican people and desire nothing more than calling off this boycott. There is, however, a price to pay for continuing down a homophobic path. All we are asking is that the Jamaican government carry out its duty to protect its GLBT citizens. It is true that this boycott may harm the Jamaican economy. But, Jamaica’s loss is the gain of other economies in the region. We believe nations should be rewarded based on their respect for basic human rights and it is our hope that people will vacation in countries that follow the rule of law.</div></div>
How could we protect you if you don't give us a chance. Come out the closet; these machetes aren't for you.

The Jamaican government is unable to protect its citizens in general, not just the gay ones.
Why are they still trying to punish Red Stripe, when that is one of the more progressive companies re: gay rights?

I don't know what they expect them to do. Jamaican government can protect gays as much as American government has been here. America says don't do it. Jamaica says nothing. Either way both countries have it goin on.
There's violence against gays here all the time. Our system is on the hush hus. Where in Jamaica wi have di Buju system.
