TG I agree on your points of argument on the economics aspect...it is evident now that Iceland's 'growth' was created by a huge debt bubble secured on a false economy - remember their economy collapsed about six months ago under huge fanfare.

But we Jamaica DO have ALL that you have mentioned and more, the Ja. government borrows and does ***bare minimum with the money - the minimum that only serves to benefit a certain class &amp; outsiders and leave the mass of the population with their begging bowls, it should provide the basic task of educating the people - no matter how &quot;basic&quot; the skills are considered, let the people borrow on their own enterprise and let the country develop that way.

There certainly needs to be a revolution maybe we need to find a candidate to fund...

It is interesting that you choose to pick on Iceland a country devoid of Natural resources other than ice, fish and geothermal energy.
It is interesting to make your point you would have downplay Jamaica’s growth between the 50s and 70s, reduce Jamaica to a country depending on the British leaving money on the treasury at Independence, cheap fuel in the 70s to pay our bills and virtually nothing else.

That allowed it to borrow money at less that 1% . Jamaica on the other hand was saddled with such a low credit rating that it could not borrow on the international financial market until the late 90's/.
It also was borrowing at up to 20% interest. That doe make a big difference.
since it forced Jamaica to borrow at punitive rates from all commers, including multinationals like the IMF. That is another whole topic.
