But I find it hilarious that you are making symbiotic comparisons between Iceland endevous and those of Jamaica as if one is totally attach to the other in a one to one relationship.

Mr. Seaga was only finance minister for a short period. Mr. Seaga and Dr. Davies did not operate in the same sphere, for most of the time that Dr. Clueless was Finance Minister his opposite was not Eddie Blinds.
For the period when Mr. Seaga was Prime Minister or he was in a Cabinet of a JLP Government Jamaica was on a growth and progressive trajectory.

Sorry doc, I know that your points of argument are progressive, but the resources available to Ja. are intrinsically more valuable than that of Icelands. Aluminium smelting is an industry than only comes about from the mining of bauxite...hopefully I won't need to expand, but other countries also have this and do not have &quot;rich&quot; economies from it.
The whole concept of Iceland being a bubble was the fact that the value of it's GDP was not based on real productivity, but on borrowings, and when the borrowings were not available you saw where the cookie crumbled.
They will bounce back as they know now what can be achieved. It has brought them national pride sense of independence, and they are hungry to have that back- even if it was on borrowings, some even expressed the desire to have stability again even if it is based on just the marine economy that they had.

Jamaica on the other hand - you have to start with instilling hope...If we had a more sophisticated economic model for Jamaica, a history of delivery on progressive economic policies, stable political processes (of course that is less of an issue now, but..) lower crime, then of course our rating would also improve and be able to attract lower interest rates ...Although I do agree that we had/have a wider deficit to catch up - especially on educationwise.
