I could have sworn there was an article in Newsweek about 5 or 6 years ago on one of the daughters – it’s killing me that I can’t find it.

I always wonder what became of all of them.

Lol,....I guess everything else that garvey has ever spoken about he was correct ..right..?...he is only &quot;bitter&quot; when it comes to saying something against selassie,under any other context garvey is right,...he is a man that his every word is taken as gospel,but if it`s against sealssie he is &quot;bitter&quot;.

That just shows the mindset of someone who would use the word &quot;hate&quot; in every topic to describe those he doesnt agree with.

i know his grandaughter is still active with ethiopian archives &amp; rastafarian issues...she is seen in stephanie black's (the same lady who did 'life &amp; debt') movie 'afrca unite' about bob marley's 60th birthday celebration in addis, ethiopia;
but many of his relatives were killed in the military coup of 1975;
machine gunned in the middle of the night- men women &amp; children, without trial or accusation---
the world was happy that the evil emperor was done away with;
only to see his successor unleash one of the most bloody genocides the afrcan continent has ever seen;

A strange sound issues from the far side of the garbage dump. &quot;I noticed that something was moving, shifting, murmuring, squishing, sighing, and smacking its lips . . . In the thick night, a crowd of barefoot beggars stood huddled together . . . I watched the crowd devour the scraps, bones, and fish heads with laborious concentration. it's more than interesting; and i love the fact that it is from ethiopian filmaker so the convenient dismissal of 'but ethiopians hate him' doesn't apply here;

it is out; i have a copy...extremely good movie;

One of the very first or second replies I made in this thread spoke of the good Selassie did.

One doesn't <span style="font-style: italic">&quot;only&quot;</span> hear of the bad.

There's 2 sides to the story - to <span style="text-decoration: underline">every</span> story.

But oft times, we only see the side we want.

In my reading and research on Selassie, I've always found both good AND bad.

no actually the prophet made a few mistakes that cost him support &amp; even his movement;
- he trusted people who betrayed him (stealing money from the black star line shipping company, selling him out)
-he was too loyal in some cases (hiring people who were not qualified, just loyal to him, thereby undermining his business model)
-meeting with the klu klux klan (lost him many supporters)
-attacking selassie (lost him many supporters)

believe it or not i don't think garvey would have like the rastafarians in his time...yet we consider him a prophet;

i usually hear about the bad...i think sometimes it's just from the fight rasta has always gotten by society; sometimes people attack us by attacking what they percieve as symbols or people important to us; i hear malicious lies all the time by people seeking to discredit rastafari;

one i used to hear often as a yute was how the emperor upon landing in jamaica, took one look at the rastas, went back in his plane &amp; said 'i'm not coming out until those lepers go away'...
i always heard this until i saw the videos of his visit to jamaica &amp; saw that was total nonsense...that is but one example of many malicious things i have heard...
another one is the billions in swiss banks story...everyone repeats it, but the fact is they have never found one iota of evidence to support this claim;
i automatically get very suspicious when white media spreads certain things about african figures;
probably what led to my research...they love mandela now that him weakout;
they didn't love him when he was a young guerilla fighter traveling to ethiopia to get help from emperor selassie to fight the demonic apartheid heads...
who says the emperor didn't do anything historic?
