The ruling minority in Iraq under Sadam was Sunni,the ruling majority in Iran is Shiite.
What are they trying to do Put in a Sinni minoroty like they had in Iraq?

Iran are the only majority Shiite country in the Middle East in addition to being Persian and not Arab.

I am not doubting your Iranian Friend but it would be unlikely Saudi Arabia is pressuring Iran politically. Iran is one of the most nationalistic countries in the region and the only competition with Saudi Arabia that I could imagine would be as competing centers for Islam.
Iran’s goal is to reestablish Najaf in Iraq as a great center for Shia and even Islamic expression while Saudi Arabia wants to keep Sunni in charge of Iraq and to make sure that Mecca and Medina is where Islamic Faith is centered.

In these two competing goals there is little room for secularism as the Government of both countries will defer or keep close council with the Imams when it comes to making decisions that might interfere with religion.
If anything Iran is most concerned with Israel and Iraq and less with Saudi Arabia and rest of the world.

free to protest election results? apparently they have more freedom to do that than here where we all accepted george bush's fraudulent election victory over al gore;

Today on the BBC radio show World Have Your Say, they dealt with this very issue live for an hour. It was a pretty good show. podcast

But jah_yout the videos that you see aired on the television again and again were not taken by &quot;the media.&quot; They were taken by citizens with cellphones and posted on YouTube and flicker. And everyone of the videos was on the internet for hours, or days before any media outlet screened it.

The protest has come to be about <span style="font-style: italic">freedom of the press</span>. There is no honest reporting in Iran. The protesters are screaming that they live in a sham democracy that is really a totalitarian theocracy. Their Supreme Leader has proved that by throwing out all foreign reporters, and cutting off Iran from the rest of the world. That could not happen in the U.S.

Their Supreme Court has proven that by throwing out the correct results of the GW Bush vs Al Gore election without the American people revolting.
That could not happen in Iran.

to be honest with you i haven't seen anything out of the ordinary...no nation will sit still while people riot thru the streets;
not even the good ole u.s.a;
and the images sent by iranians...the media grabs any one of them with blood in it to show over &amp; over again...i've seen worse bloodshed in the american ghettoes...
seems like we have a lot to say about other people's country while a bag of isht goes on here that no one cares to talk about

The State of Iran has done everything to block Western Media. The Media outlets themselves say it is worse then the Iran-Iraq War.
In any case it does not matter if 100 or 1 person is killed the fact that the State can fire live bullets at unarmed protestors is enough of an insult.
No one is hyping any reports of violence. The reports started as a report on Post Election Protest, which followed an Election that was widely reported on...It is a very natural progression in my estimation.

why should iran care about showing reports from countries that are openly hostile to it?
does america show every iranian news brodcast?
no one is excusing state violence against civilians but would america sit back while people run roughshod thru the streets?
america has killed people too during protests and sometimes during crises (katrina)...
first let them prove where voter fraud took place and go about proving it; than action can be taken...if anarchy &amp; rioting are a way to protest election results why was it not encouraged here when bush stole the presidency?
