I am guessing the trafficking of humans for the purpose of slavery was a business venture?
If the answer is yes, wouldn't the Africans capturing and selling their brothers and sisters expect to profit from this venture?

Jah yute and yourself should have done like I did and ignore any comments that are off topic.

This thread was started to address the corporate sector namely the financial institutions and I made that crystal clear in my first post. This thread is being viewed by many non members. Many of them are not aware of the history of these corporate giants including the main western and middle eastern religions that influenced millions around the world yet were involved with the slave trade. Many members here are aware of the issues but this thread is not just about them or created with only them in mind. It is also for the lurkers to draw knowledge and to inject new knowledge in regards to banking, the corporate and blue chip companies including the popular religions.

Anyone with questions about african slave traders who sold other african slaves are free to start their own thread addressing that issue

blacks were not permitted to sit in the front pews in Cuba's Catholic churches. Throughout the centuries of slave trading priests travelled on slave ships and spinkled the cargo with water to baptize them. <span style="color: #000099"><span style="font-weight: bold">"Africans were coming from heathenism, and enslavement would introduce them to Christianity and prepare their souls for Christianity," explained historian and author Afua Cooper. "That was a benefit of being enslaved. You would become a Christian and be assured of a place in heaven."</span> </span>

Campayne frankly states things that raise the hackles of many Catholics — our church is not immune to racism, there is institutional racism in the church and Catholics need to face their history of complicity in the slave trade.
"Church people cannot escape this, because they were very much a part of the problem," she said.

The Christian church's main justification of the concept of slavery was based on the "curse of Ham" which appears in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) in Genesis 9:25-27. "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers. He also said, 'Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. Christians at the time believed that Canaan had settled in Africa and that his descendents had become black. Although slavery was widespread in Palestine during Jesus' ministry, the Christian Scriptures (New Testament) does not record his opinion of it. Slavery was casually mentioned without criticism in the various books of the Bible. It was accepted as a natural part of life by almost all Christians until the 19th century CE. Anabaptists started to criticize slavery in the late 17th century. They were joined by Quakers and Mennonites. It was only when John Wesley (1703-1791), founder of the Methodist movement, became concerned about slavery that the small protest became a mass movement for the abolition of slavery. Slavery is still advocated in North America by some Reconstructionist Christians and a few racist fringe groups within the Christian Identity movement.

Two recent books explore how the Genesis account of Noah cursing his grandson Canaan came to be used as a primary justification for enslaving black Africans. In doing so, the books add to the understanding of how this and other biblical stories were previously viewed within Mormonism as support for race-based classifications. Genesis tells of Ham finding his father Noah drunk and uncovered in his tent. Ham informs his brothers Shem and Japheth. They, walking backward so as not to see their father’s nakedness, cover Noah with a garment. After Noah awakes from his drunkenness, he curses—not Ham, and not himself—but Ham’s son Canaan by pronouncing: “Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren” (see Genesis 9:20–27). There is no reference to dark skin, to any skin color, or to Africa, and Noah does not say the curse applies to Canaan’s descendants. Yet this story, as it was amplified and changed in extrabiblical interpretations, became the ideological cornerstone used to justify the slavery of black Africans thousands of years afterwards. David Goldenberg is a Jewish studies scholar and has been editor of the Jewish Quarterly Review, President of Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning, and Associate Director of the Annenberg Research Institute for Judaic and Near Eastern Studies. In The Curse of Ham: Race and Slavery in Early Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, Goldenberg seeks to answer how and when the Genesis story became a “curse of Ham” condemning black Africans to slavery.

Are you serious?
Do you know them, which is the point of the question not whether they were 20 or 2 million Tribal Leaders?
If that was the point then it would be important to ask whether or not we are going to worry about a few Companies out of the millions of businesses that exist worldwide.

Since you brought that up, do you know for a fact that Africans and Maroons involved in the transatlantic slave trade <span style="font-family: 'Arial Black'">did not amass great wealth and power</span>?

I am not comparing anything; I am asking questions that have arisen from reading the transcript of the MF Lecture Series on the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Do not freaking judge my intent or lecture me on what I should or should not ask questions about.
It my prerogative to ask what I feel like and it your choice to answer or ignore what you wish.

Once someone has the understanding of "why" things are the way they are, does it really help to keep focusing on the negative images of the past?

I know I will probably get alot of flack from my statements, but honestly, don't you think is better to focus on "now" and how to make it better?
