I agree that it's probably two reasons why jamaicans will still like him : 1) him was a celebrity, 2) he was never found guilty of the charges.

last year when i went to jamaica i saw a tall man all in white, with perfectly coiffed hair, white patent leather shoes and handbag, long white tunic over him white pants, shopping in sovereign supermarket. nobody bothered him.

its hard to get a fix on jamaican homophobia. i've seen more intolerance expressed here on the board than among jamaicans when i lived and worked there in the late 90s.

latoya came out against him pretty harshly when the child molest thing was going on (saying she would no longer be an enabler to his darkside), but i heard she later recanted her statements...

Along the same lines as MGee, I've seen some sweet looking man in the rural areas of JA who go about their business just like everybody else.

In a more general way, handholding and kissing in public isn't prevalent in Jamaica, so frankly, I'm more puzzled by daggering than attitudes towards homosexuality.

Personally, I think MJ was a very disturbed man. Yes do to his childhood, dad, stardom, etc. I don't think all his interactions with his sleepover guests were 100% innocent. Yes I consider him wacko jacko. <span style="font-size: 20pt">BUT,</span> if he was performing in my area, and I had a extra $5,000 hanging around, I would buy a ticket to the show.

Just something about MJ...so talented.

#3 most 50-60 year old Jamaicans grew up with him as a child star and have been able to rationalize that this was just Michael and you were not going to change him.

When I was in Jamaica if a guy was seen dressed slightly similar to Michael <span style="font-style: italic">(maybe just tight pants and Jerry Curls)</span> among the number of names that could be used to taunt him was Michele Jackson.

I found mj repulsive.. and all his talent cannot be little that fact...the issue of the hotel in vegas, the children... the skin thing, the lies about his plastic surgery....I am as concenred about him as elvis..
