Jamaica, in particular was engineered by the Brits as a place where the majority of it's population was never supposed to aspire to be anything other than mere beasts of burden.
That designed-in inequity was what made colonial Jamaica function to the benefit of the privileged class and not surprisingly has had consequences for present day Jamaica.

Dem shoulda more surprised if we had managed to turn things around in the not even half century since independence.

My belief is that there are far more examples of such than the 'success stories' you have proposed.
In fact, I think that this is so abundantly clear that it renders the creation of any list a very redundant exercise.

Yes, we had centuries of corrupt government followed by decades of corrupt government.
Mi nuh have nuh argument with that statement!
I'd say you have started to support my contention that Jamaica is not as unique in its failures as you seemed to have been suggesting.

As I said, we were placed in a position of having to root out and destroy entrenched evils in order to make a better Jamaica.
We (esp. our leaders) are at fault for our failures at reform but not at fault for having inherited the task.

I made no such statement. Again I said Jamaica like other countries with corrupt governments has failed. I never said our failure is unique; it would have been a miracle if we had not failed given the path of self-immolation we chose, but finding the worst examples to pair yourself with=epic failure in my books.
