His wife was not harmed as the killer ran off.

The injured foreigner was taken to hospital where he died while being treated.

RJR News understands that senior investigators have been assigned to probe Mr. Hunia's killing.

years ago my co-worker was walking on the street (talking on her phone too i think) and a man come up and demand her cell phone..neva tek her purse or nutten.

i assume she gave it up;

seems crazy a guy would shoot someone 3 times over a cell phone &amp; den run weh leave it;

he would risk murder charges for a phone he didn't even need? (or did he pick it up after he shot the guy?)

either way- nuff a dem gomne mad inna j-a

Thats sad. Just saw it in the NZ Herald this morning. Probably his life dream going to Jamaica. Crime happens everywhere in the world. We have had cases of tourists coming here for a holiday and they've been attacked or murdered

I don't think that is the same guy, Evan. Tiaki and Tiki are different names. I feel for his wife and whanau. Our country is so far away, so for him to be brought back home...sigh... Sad, real sad.

They simply shoot someone and blame them for the murder. As a result that gunman may have killed scores of people before. killing another will not make him any more likely to be caught than all the others.

I just heard the story on the 10 o'clock news in TVJJJJJJJ,
and they said the gunman demanded the cell phone and the victim stated he would not give him the phone, then he and his wife stood up to walk away and the man was shot in the back, several times.

It does not surprise me that a gunman might take this man's response to his demand as just rude and disrespectful and that would be enough to shot him

Off the subject, but to make a point a neighbor (a taxi driver) of mine was beat up and had his arm broke by a man who knew my neighbor had some ganja (small amount) to take to someone, this guy approached him and demanded that my neighbor sell the ganja to him. He told him no, he was on his way to deliver it. The next day this same man, who my neighbor didn't even know, came into my neighbors yard, beat him up and broke his arm.

My neighbor didn't even know this guy or have history with him or any of his bredrens. The man who assaulted him just wanted to make a point. No one tells him NO.

anyhoo </div></div> And probably more so if you had it in Jamaica. I use to say while i was there that although I was armed with a gun,I never knew whoi the criminal is until they pull their gun first.
By then he has one up on me and enough to cause me to lose my life,due to his ego.
In other words, the only guarantee you have that a gun would save you is if can be be a deterrent to the gun man.

And the only deterrent to the gun man is the belief that not only you, but that the other people around is likely to bearmed and ready to shoot too.

That is why I say that having a gun in Jamaica and in itself is not a deterrent.
You also have to seem to be in a sorrounding where gun owners are likely to outnumber the gun man/men
