Let us not get it twisted .. Ja's tourism as nurtured originally was in response to white visitors.. Said white visitors , as was dere norm bak home, neva wan blacks sharing amenities wid dem on an equal footing... early writings of even Morris C addressed this attitude being exhibited by the US globetrotters who were making MoBay etc dem new playground...so dem waiters got dem lead from who pay dem... decry it but nuff Jcans ha a history of doing wat dem is paid fah wen it come to dis industry called tourism .. so mek wi no juss gwane like Jcans juss dweet juss cause...

an if we wan yaadie fi ansa why re not serving blacks in Ja let us also address why some whites wi ongle deal wid a yaad black n y some black decry a farrin waiter as suitable mate but spen a fortune to visit a yaad one ... So u see how real we alllll being wen it come to di ?s dat out deh

Jamaicans wer not welcomed, I mean black Jamaicans, until in th e70's.

And it required government decree otherwise known as threats.

The hotel operators claimed that visitors would not return if they had to mix with blacks on equal termsas felow guests.

As for the swimming pools, that was a different situation. Do you know that ther are hotels in Jamaica with up to 100 swimming pools?

ever wonder why every villa in those hotels have one?

Tourism might provide a few jobs to a few people but I have doubts that an economy based on tourism is in the general public good.
When yu cyaan even see the sea anymore sake a walled of private premises one has to wonder...

Jamaican economy has been based on little else since 90s, maybe that is why it is no good!

All he had to do is to promote the industry to the whims of the Americans using Jamaican tax dollars.
We still today have many who representothers spending Jamaican tax dollars and acting in e intrest of foreign interest.

not his modda's establishment ...she was before di war changed the fortunes of nuff n the Americans became the ones wid disposable incomes fi dash bout di place...but I wi cede dat he was heavily pro Americans in his clientele wen setting up RH but it was not wid tax dollas... the tourist industry came later
