Like I said - small minds.
Small minds can only imagine small ideas.

Well *I* still do not believe they landed on the moon and thats that.
The whole thing was a big hoax, and some people are fooled,...and some are not,..the kind of technology that would have put men on the moon 40 years ago would now be so modified, tweaked, remodeled, reshaped, and advanced that it should now be possible to put men on most other planets in our galaxy......on a daily basis....absolutely bugger all to do with money, they just cannot do it,simple.
Nowadays they are barely able to send off a rocket at houston without the bloody thing blowing up after only a few feet in the air.

I'll try to lay it out for you in simple terms.
(1) It's been several years now since the last space shuttle disaster. Besides... no exploration is ever completely safe.
(2) It isn't at all impossible to move things around the galaxy - given enough money. But we're talking about people... and people are life forms with a relatively short life span.
It takes 4 days - with present technology - to get from Earth to the moon. That's one way.
It takes about 3 years - with present technology - to get from earth to Mars, the nearest planet to us in our galaxy. And that, too, is one way.
40,000 to 50,000 years
The Milky Way - our galaxy - is about 100,000 light years across... and ours is a relatively small galaxy. that's also one way.
Just to get across our own galaxy, the Milky Way, would take the best of our present technological dreams about half a million years. half a million years just to get there... and another half a million to return home to Earth.
So, given enough money, we could send out colonizing ships... but who's going to volunteer to leave home and never see one's home planet or loved ones ever again? Are you? I sure won't... neither will most people.
The basic facts of such long-term generational exploration have been done to death by Sci-Fi... Star Trek on T.V., the more recent movie Wall-E are a few examples... but the best, I think, is The Stars My Destination, by Alfred Bester.
The problems brought up by these authors & moviemakers are still the same - and quite true. Few are willing to make such personal sacrifices. And, the truth is, even if we were - we (as the human race) would only f it up.
Like I said before -- it all comes down to two things: money and need.
There is not enough need to justify such a large monetary expenditure.
Ergo, it is not going to happen anytime in the near future.
We have the technology to go into deep space... and we've had it for my entire lifetime. (I'm almost 50)
Unless we conquer what Gene Roddenberry called "warp speed" technology - we're not going to the stars in one or two generations.
Until we have a good reason to pay all of the money that it will cost - we're not going to go back into space... or to the moon... again.

Thanks for laying it out in simple terms for us simple folks,....but I am still not convinced, and I still dont believe, for the reasons I layed out before.

I for one am a sceptical believer. I believe they did what they say they did but the American government is so notorious for lying to the public to preserve it's image that if it was officially revealed that it was all a hoax I would not be shocked or surprised in the least.

You are right, they have lied about so many things its difficult to believe them even if it`s the truth.
However,on this issue I am prepared to believe they are lying again, it`s easier to fool the american people than those outside the country who owe america no allegiance.

Are you capable of reading and comprehending what I've already posted?
What part of what I posted are you having trouble comprehending?
Sending non-human/non-living probes is far less expensive (comparatively 'cheap' even)... it's sending human beings that is cost prohibitive. (for the reasons i've already stated, more than once. re-read)

At no time did I question the size of Derek's mind, Derek.

That's okay, neutral.
At least you bothered to listen to what I had to say, unlike... *cough*Derek*cough*
Thank you for the respect you showed me by actually reading it before arguing about it.
I think I need to rephrase my comment about small minds... People who don't bother to listen to the answers to the questions they ask have small minds. Never mind whether or not they change their minds and agree - just whether they spend the few moments to listen.

Well, that certianly explains it.

I didn't think you too stupid to comprehend what you read... if you read it, that would be.
You may..... but he hits back awfully hard. I hope youo're up on yer martial arts, Derek. I just wanted to give you fair warning.
I hope you read the warning. lol

Re: Will somebody kindly explain this strange sentence to me
This was written before you (Derek) said that that you didn't diseblieve, but woueln't be shocked if they'd lied and faked it... but it still stands a good question for those who are solidly non-believers about the whole thing:

Originally Posted By: Derek

Only one question: Why?
The cost of doing everything necessary to fool the entire world (not even just the American public, but, as unnu claim - the whole world) by far exceeds the cost of actually going to the moon.
So... why bother to fake it? Why not just do it for real?
Doing it for real would have been significantly cheaper!
There were monitoring stations all over the world. ALL of them - plus their professionals - were faked? Hardly believable...
There was 200-ft rocket making 180-200db noise all over southern Florida. NO ONE heard it, could first-hand witness to it? A bald-faced lie.
Several hundred thousand eyewitnesses watched this rocket take off. No one around to 'prove' it? Another bald-faced lie. I personally can name one of my friends who was there, himself, and saw it, heard it, eye-witnessed it. It happened.
We had the technology then. We still have it - bettered, even, over the years.
It isn't believable that such an expensive and elaborate fake as unnu are proposing happened, unless you can cite a possible reason for doing so. What possible reason would our government have had for spending billions of '60s dollars on staging a fake movie when it would have cost significantly less to actually pull off the moon landing instead... and actually hve done it for real?!
Unless any of unnu nay-sayers can answer that believably -- I'd have to call B-S on the whole preposterous idea as both illogical and specious.
Peace, Derek.
Peace, neutral.
Who wants a ride on the space shuttle to the space station?
Mr Witchy is getting old... he may be dead before I'm ready to fly. I want a friend to come with me if he's gone. BOAL
