I've seen the Latina mag but did not know that it was affiliated with Essence.

There are way too many magazines on the newstands for my liking.

I like the fact that Essence captured a whole new audience by focusing on their web delivery. I am not sure how many subscriptions they had from their web presence, but it has certainly introduced a new audience to what is a great mag.

I like it as well, but don't know how they are doing.

They seem to have a solid focus - wealth and commerce, a niche market, and serious advertisers.

One thing they do to raise their profile and undoubtedly capital, is their conference promotions including lecturing at businesses and schools on financial issues. Sensible idea!!
