after a few years in Canada, and experiencing the sham, cant help but wonder that is Obama try to model america's health care system towards a more canadian style one, this may be one of his biggest mistakes.
Canada health care system (i found) is one for critical and emergency care, NOT preventative care.
Its a frustrating process for persons who want to do preventative stuff like regular doctor's visits, or just to hve symtoms of early stages of diseases diagnosed and addressed.
While some may have different experiences, I find that because the care is "free" the doctors treat patients like cattle.
wait times are ridiculous, doctors are NEVER on time for appoointments, many times not even within the hour of the appointed time.
It seems noting is important unless u dying. But preventative stuff dem just.. "guh buy some asprins and if the situation worsens, then goto the emergency room".. and this is the exerience mi have living a a city considered in the top 5 cities to live in Canada
Mi wount even touch the real cost.. the TAX..
The munt a tax dem tech in the name of free health care, stress into sickness to rathid.
Meck mi keep mi money and buy miself a good healh care plan.


Mi have seen benefits.. yeah.. as mi seh, certain life treatening situations, the do come thru..if u unemployedor a bum on the system and have idle time to waste in waiting room and to bug doctors, u good to go..but, if the hard woring joe smoe with limited time to scratch u balls, much less waste half a day sitting in waiting room, then the canadian health care system is a joe.
mi been in canada a few years now, and have yet to see a doctor. not that nmo nuh try, but after many years of doing the black man thing of avoiding the doc, mi decided fi give in to pressure and go for a checkup a few weeks ago..
got there ontime.. but mi 10:30AM appointment soon became 11:30.. anyhow.. mi had togo to work, suh mi left. Dem claim dey woul call mi bac to rebook.. all now.....
remember.. top FIVE canadian city to live, and this is the "nice" side..
mi have had better experience in Jamaica than here.. infact had a better record of regular visits to mi doctor in likle Jamaica than here in "free healthcare" Canada.

mi dread fi see wat will happen to America if they should resort to any Canadian style health care system.

now.. mi nuh see Obama's plan, and if smaddy have the 411 on it, dat would be cool, but base off the snipets that mi see, , mi would suggest that his seriously reconsider if is a Canadian style system him a consider.. yeah just becuse lil ole me can make a sugestion to the prez a di usofa..

ahh ok.. as long as its not fashion off the canadian system, and as long as there is no perception that canada has its health care system down.. cause its a sham, and hopefully someone will make it known and force some kinda health care reform this side of the border.

Now on the flip, u mentioned that most people in america file banrupsee because a healthcare (a guess before the housing collaspe) if thats so, and a think I did read dat somewhre else, den assuming that its criical care that racks up this kinda expense, mi can say, mi have &quot;HEARD&quot; of issues where critical cost here is made managable because of the system.. BUT comes bac to whey mi seh.. the preventative care support is not there..is when u a dead , then , thats when u see the benifits.. a guess the good thing is that it have the potential fi allow people fi dead widout going into bankrupcy.

put preventative care is sorely lacking in the USA as well. If you have no insurance how do you get preventative care period?

N.A. standards dont practice preventative medicine period like other places do so to me it is an apples and orange comparison.

Canada's system needs to be tweaked big time but I would hate to see US style system here. That is out of the frying pan and into the fire as ti were.

I was speaking to a friend in the US the other day and the person cannot fill their medication -something that they really need - because they dont ahve insurance to cover it. Butt wehn they get truly sick for not having it then it will be okay to rush them to the ER and spend thousands of dollars to get them better.

That makes no sense either. And it isnt just critical care that cause bankrupty.

When it costs 2K for an ER visit and some basic care, that bill can add up quickly and put ppl in a bind.


<span style="font-weight: bold">Both systems are flawed</span> (our wait times are rediiculous) but I still prefer to pay 44/ month for my healthcare and get service no matter what than come up with 600/month and still be denied certain services because some HMO bureaucrat thinks it is too costly for me to have a procedure.

ooh ok.. suh is NOT a Canadian type system, but instead a single payer system.
not taking out private providres, but offering a mixed system...options.. inclusive, not exclusive..
Sounds much betta dan the Canadian illusion.
A guess the healthcare industries nowing the flaws in the Canadian system will put it out there that Obama's system is to mimic the Canadian system as dem NOW that truth be told, Canadian system is not much better than what they got now..

well if they fail to OK a 1 trillion dollar health bill to keep the people healthy enough to repay the 20 +trillion dollars bank support they will have to repay to keep the country from being overtaken by anarchy, they should be thrown out.

i think that's one of the disadvantages of making healthcare more avaiable
something has to give in order for everyone to receive..hopefully its not quality..

me I'll support every effort to make it more available...I like the having the option to pay more and remain private

u correct, and trust mi, mi just givin my skewed opinion (hate waiting )
However its seems the Canadian health care system is held up (in the western hemisphere) as the great model of what health care should be .. and it is not... It is rigged with flaws, and its almost like a &quot;feel good&quot; system.. a kind of <span style="font-style: italic">illusion</span>, not a real health care.
It would be good to see more people hold it up to the critical light and force the authorities to address the flaws..

No, you are right that is the biggest issue in out system for real. I know cause I am at the dr office every few months so I feel it....

I think our model is good.

What sucks has been the politiking that has interferred with its execution since the 1980's. That is when the system started a rapid decline and dumb things were done in the name of politics and now is effecting the state of our care. You have to pay the piper at sme point and the point is now for us.


But it is best to push preventative care. And even that they are undermining with the introduction of Bill C-31...which will limit ppl's access to alternative care. So instead of encouraging folks to protect themselves before serious illness kicksc in, they are curbing it.

And this move is based on laws that are in place in the U.S. now governing alternative medicine.

I wouldn't even wish on you they one that many people haveto deak with onthe basis of profitabillity. Aand that is hospice or nothing. Either way is a death sentence. That is after paying health insurance for all their lives.

The ting is dat de canadian sh!tstem is the best this hemisphere has to offer. Wait time are probably worse the closer you get to the big cities. Too few doctors therefore docs have to tek on a bigger load. De US system is not in one bit favourable to the ppl but to the pharmaceuticals. Care if yuh cyaan pay dem nuh care.

De US is the only &quot;major industrial&quot; nation dat does not provide health care for its citizens.
