i'm still puzzled by the relative invisibility of black girls/women as trophy girlfriends/wives for black sports figures in britain. i'm not bothered by interracial couples. it's just sociologically odd to me that black men making money in england seem not to choose black women as mates, and i'm not sure why that is.

I don't think it's a sports thing though, MGee. That's just the way it is in the UK with sports figures being the most high-profile.

thanks, BlackStar. i'm using sports figures (footballers) because they're the ones most visible via television in my household (my younger daughter follows english league soccer).

i'm still not certain why black women aren't being chosen, though, especially as trophy wives. surely there are enough sexy black women in england to make a wife for a successful sports figure, whether he's black or white.

ETA - i understand the stats u posted, just not why they are like that.

Also many british people use the word <span style="font-weight: bold">polite</span> when I think they mean <span style="font-weight: bold">petrified</span>.

They (the sports figures) might not define being with a black woman as a trophy. They are after what will get them in the next &quot;in&quot; club so they could get their photos taken &quot;cheesing&quot; with their &quot;trophy&quot; for the next morning rag read. Plus, they know which side their bread is buttered in the UK if they even want to be let into the clubs.

if a footballer decided to take a stunning black woman as his date to a club, their pic won't appear in the paper next day? wouldn't it be the baller and not the date that gets the papp's excited?

Well am a bit late in this thread, but agree with the conclusions here.

The black wives and GFs of footballers just do not seem to get 'papped'. You have the likes of Michelle Gayle, Ian Wright at his peak was also married to a black woman, I had assumed that his wife was also black - until he took part in a Family reunion show (forget the name).
Even when it is inter-racial, the black woman is not featured - Didn't know until a few years ago that David Seaman (one of the best UK goalie), was married to a black woman - and both these final two were very high-profile footballers.

I choose to ask why?

It is interesting though, because at one time, not very long time neither, no white woman would want to be caught dead in a picture with a black man, star or not.

Very good observation about the blonde thing,although I`ve yet to see a black woman with a blonde weave or dyed blonde hair make it into the trophy wives category.....and there are quite a few of those about...LOL !...aye sah,..you`re releasing the evil joker in me nunya,stop it !.
