FAA just took the pilots licenses from them, without those, no jobs, no jobs, no pension, so I am told. so I don't guess there is much more they can do to them.

I do not feel one bit sorry for them! After all...did you see the photos of plane crashes that happened because the pilots became &quot;distracted&quot;?

I am such a skeptic. I think there is more to the story but the laptop excuse became sort of believable to the inquiry. They were looking online at airline policy? <span style="font-style: italic">YEAH RIGHT....

The only way I would believe this is to have the laptops screened for evidence. We all know that isn't about to happen!
They have 10 days to appeal.

Nooks\I just saw this FAA expert on TV and he said they would have been better off if they had said they were sleep. He said the lap tops and the breaking of policy was what turned the key, so I guess they at least told the truth, because they knew the truth would really get them nailed for sure.

between the two of them 30,0000 miles a life and a career. Man I hate to see people do something like this, one BIG lapse in judgement and everthing you work for down the tubes.


Also I know these type guys, and without the profession they love, their life is not much.

I'd probably appeal because at least you have a 50% chance of it being over turned, but I don't think that is going to happen in this case. mAN THEY MUST FEEL LIKE WARMED OVER CraP.

I somewhat feel for them.
If they were suspended for a few months I'm sure they would never repeat this mistake, but I guess an example must be set.

i just think about the countless people chatting, texting, eating, drinking, etc, etc while driving &amp; lawd knows driving is more dangerous than flying....

No baby, that would not EVEN be appropriate in this case, too many lives were at stake, which is why the industry has the high standards that it has. Sometimes people get a little too high falutin in their professions and feel that they can get away with some things and are above the law, have it all together, have so much expereince that they can now experiement. Not true.

They did set an example with this one, and some pilots will stop doing some things they were doing for awhile, but old habits die hard. This too shall pass and many of them will be back to their &quot;ABOVE THE LAW&quot; mentality.

The bigger picture is the flying public will now be more and more nervous about what is really going on when that cockpit door closes. I have already had many friends who are afraid of flight express how this has cemented their resolve not to fly.

how much about the pilots on any given flight do you really know?

do you now how well he performed in his last check ride..d you knwo if he faield and had to be retested? do you know if last year he broke a plane's undercarriage on landing..do you know if two years ago he ran off the runway?

Exactly! Nope, don't know none of it. Remember the one plane crash I forget where...the pilot basically decided to commit suicide? Hundreds of people went with him.

Ok so..we know nothing. But we do know that these two particular guys have no regard for rules and regulations, which is my point. Same way with the one we hear about now and then that gets tagged for too much to drink the night before and they don't usually get caught till after they land a plane.

OK look at this objectively. That is without the glasses of emotions.
Who would be likely to be more careful about following the rules?
the person that was punished for breaking it, or the one who think that it only happen to other people?


Like they thought before they were punished?

Another example.
if you had a bad experience doing something, Like a hefty ticket for speeding , are you more or less likely to be following the speed limits after?

So what were you saying about if I saw them piloting my flight again??
Oh I remember,and my answer is more reassured than I would about any other crew.
Since I believe that they won't likely make that mistake again, but others will soon forget what they did and do it.

But that is just me.
I have a nagging tendency of trying to analyse before making decisions.

I have had the experience of working with and supervising American workers after years of supervising Jamaican workers.
and my experience is that American workers have an inordinate tendency to pay scant regards for safety rules, once they are not closely supervised. They have to be constantly watched and warned,punished and corrected. So about breaking rules.
I have had the experience off having workers multiple times try to get me fired for being too stringent on quality, safety etc. I have always won. ...even against the big unions.
