people come to Ja n ovastay , do all kine of illegalities etc...it is ongle fitting that they streamline the immigration process...fi too long we have been shady at our borders...now we doing wat oddas do ....exercising our sovereign right to monitor at the entry point....

the good suffa fi di bad as dem wi seh...nothing wrong wid providing complete information....nothing atall, atall, atall....

hopefully, it will cut down on the human trafficking that is too prevalent in Ja...cut down on the visitors who using the island as springboard to sneak into the US...prevent a lot of what the country is penalised fah by the first world nations who holding us responsible...e.g dem Nigerian scammers etc

also, it would be nice fi di various embassies know weh peoplde deh if n wen dem haffi get dem out...mnay dont register wid dem embassy so if said embassy haffi use the immigraation records to find u, it would eb nice to ha di info handy, dont

But, Evvan, what would prevent ANYONE from just saying that they were staying at Sandels, Negril?, even if they were staying elsewhere....do you think they would ask for proof of reservations?

i would think that they will, depending on the person....profiling so to speak as dem do elsewhere...diffrant world dese days wen it come to travelling n entering a country so close to the US borders...closest English speaking one if u coming from Latin, Central America etc

but how can any of that work if the system of recording property locations isnt in place? I have no need to lie and like others above tell them exactly where I will be staying but still manage to catch all kinds of grief because it isnt &quot;exact&quot; enough. They allow mail to reach these addresses but those said addresses are not good enough for those visiting??????

If me as a vistor has to rely on the informaiiton my family provides from their property title documents, and customs says that isnt good enough, what are ppl to do?

I provide a box number and that isnt enough but that is what my aunt says is her address and has nothing else to provide me with. So I THEN lie and give another address because I cant give customs what they want even though the address is correct.

They either have to teach the officers to use better discretionary skills instead of &quot;sticking to a script&quot;, or improve those things like housing numbering grid before this tightening of the borders can really work.

Got to agree with you Nylah.

I have no problems with them tighten up to secure the nation. But keeping someone at a desk for over 30 minutes to find out if they are staying in stony hill or Arlene Cresent is a bit much.

They can be trained to use descretion. The agents in Mobay behave differently than the ones in KIN. That is another topic in and of itself.
