now i'll wait for you to bring to my attention a television program where a character is described by their skin color in the title...
you miss the entire point; it's not meant to be derogatory- to them it would not seem racist- as it does not to you;

so i take it you are ok with a children's cartoon program being titled chin the yellow boy or jose the brown boy or tom the white boy?
...i'm just saying the very fact that they need to differentiate the boy's skin color is teaching them that skin color is a thing to be emphasized from an early age;

the white <span style="font-weight: bold">shadow</span> is a metaphor...just like the black <span style="font-weight: bold">knight</span> is...those are used all the time;

it would have been different if that basketball tv show had been called the white <span style="font-weight: bold">teenager</span>, or the white <span style="font-weight: bold">boy</span>;

so nice try, but i'm still waiting for an equal example where a children's show is called the (fill-in-skin-color-here) boy...
aimed at the minds of impressionable children...you seem very confident you will be able to come up with one;

but let me ask you...would you be comfortable if dora the explorer had been called dora the brown girl?

If the show was about a black high school basketball coach in charge of a group of mostly white students and the show's name was the &quot;The Black Shadow&quot;, would it still be only a <span style="font-weight: bold">metaphor</span> to you? I am just asking!

yes as i said, to me it is the same as the martin lawrence movie 'the <span style="font-weight: bold">black knight</span>'...
i knew that it was a play on words in reference to him being 'black'...
now if the movie had been called 'the <span style="font-weight: bold">black man</span>' i would have felt different; besides, my main thing is that that tv show is for children; to me it's too early to drum into children's minds that they should be identified solely according to their skin color; especially in the context of latin culture, which openly considers black as inferior or less desirable...
ever wondered why the mexicans consider those sambo caricatures to be non-offensive?
