you already live in a society like that.
it is only that you have delegated that duty to defend your family to a process that is effective.
In Jamaica it is as simple as this. the people delegated the defence of their family to the government.
They still have the responsibility you can't delegate responsibility only duty. What would be the case if you could not migrate to some place else?
what if you had to live in Jamaica?

well millions have to do that.
and are dying at the hands of criminals.
simply because they fail to realize that their safety is their responsibility.

Yes, I see your point. It seems to be there has to be some sort of grass roots movement to protest this lawlessness in Jamaica. I'm afraid it is going to cause even more bloodshed.

It is not effective to arm selected people. If they are black they are only making them targets.

irrespective of how well armed a few lone soldiers in a crowd is, they will be overcome, disarmed and killd in short order.
that is what is happening in Jamaica today.,

And it is nor good sending groups of well armed nuts for a temporary scan and kill. It only make they situation worse.

crime is always concentrated where there is no effective means of protection of the citizens.
So it is in the ghetto is so it is in Jamaica.

Now, Doc. That is not true. There have been many effective grassroots movements that have brought about change in so-called ghetto areas, as well as poor rural areas in the US.

They Are Only temporary and geographical.

they crime simplymove someplace else.
as long as there is a vacium, of defence, the natural order is crime.
this is a sociological reality.
there is no avoiding it.

Wait now. Of course they are not permanent. I don't live in Utopia. Hey, I pay the police. They work for me. They don't do me a favor by working to protect my family or my property. They do what I expect them to do. They provide a service and I am vigilant to make sure they don't forget that. And *that* is the point I am making (and maybe you are making too?). My demands and expectations are different perhaps from my family in Jamaica. And you know why? Because I am not *alone* in making these demands. I partner with community/citizen/neighborhood groups and we make our voices heard. *This* I think is what needs to happen in Jamaica. There has to be a coalition of citizen groups - not *them* but *us* - to bring about change in the society.
