Re: Not a pretty story!
The problem is that there is no shortage of coalitions.
the bigger problem is that the majority have no idea about the mechanics of returning a community permanently to civility.
That is it.
They will and have always accepted temporary fixes,.
they only cause the problem to mount and create fatigue amongst those who are willing.
and doubt of the probability by those e who look to other s to fix it.
No amount of policing can fix Jamaica at the stage it is.
It have to be a universal citizenry action. the problem is that the citizens do not trust each other with the tools necessary.
In every town that have long term peace inthe Us achieve it after they arm citizens .
many people do not know that at one stage the Us was a criminals paradise.
they think it just came to be so orderly because of the police force.
No it had to be brought to that point by the citizenry.
and then the police with the supervision of those citizens, are able to maintain it.
Hoe many Jamaican citizens believe that and have the energy=guts to select and supervise the police that is suppose to protect the peace in their community?
we can't jump to the stage other place, because we never had a history of effective policing in the history of the country.
Many people will say the police force was good one time that is so far from the truth.
It never served the people. It was established as a representative of the ruling elite, and that have not yet change.
It does not protect ordinary blacks.
The member s of the force does not take an oath to serve Jamaicans.

I partner with community/citizen/neighborhood groups and we make our voices heard. *This* I think is what needs to happen in Jamaica. There has to be a coalition of citizen groups - not *them* but *us* - to bring about change in the society.

They Are Only temporary and geographical.
they crime simplymove someplace else.
