Besides passenger safety, the seat belt rule allows the forensics teams to more easily locate the torsos after crashes.

maybe the pilot did have di plane pan auto pilot. like mi read bout wan time wah man put him car pan cruise control and run awff road caz him neh know seh di cruise control sitt'n cudden si di curve eena di road.

<span style="font-weight: bold"> The flight took off from Miami at 8.52 pm and was schedule to arrive Kingston at 10.27 pm on Tuesday but it crashed on destination at 10.22 pm.

The airport is closed for investigation and all flights are diverted to Montego Bay.</span>

NMIA is open again~

<span style="font-weight: bold"> Officials at the Norman Manley International Airport say operations have returned to normal as the airport is now open.

The airport was closed last night after an aircraft overshot the runway while landing shortly after 10 o’ clock and crashed near the Port Royal Beach.

In a release from Air Jamaica, the airline said it would be trying to operate as close to scheduled departure times as possible. In addition it said the public could get 'up to date flight information by checking Flight Status at www.AirJamaica.com or by calling 1-888-FLY-AIRJ (in Jamaica) and 1-800-523-5585 (in the USA).'

According to the release, last night’s closure of the airport caused two Air Jamaica planes to overnight in New York (JFK) and Fort Lauderdale. Both flights, JM16 and JM36, are to operate southbound this morning.

Well of course Wendy. But seriously...remember the [was it called?] the Y2K scare? Computers will ALL malfunction. Services will grind to a halt? It was something that MIGHT have happened. So? That year I went to Jamaica for New Years. If there was going to be a shut down...up here...in winter...I was going to be in Jamaica. Safe. And warm. [and then stay longer to get over the Y2K shock.]
