An American Airlines plane crashed and broke in two after landing at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to local reports. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Details were not immediately available, however, passengers on the plane told local media that flight 331 had just arrived from Miami in pouring rain when the accident occurred. The flight apparently originated in Washington, D.C.
An airport official said the plane overshot the runway and persons are being evacuated, with some sent to hospital.
"The plane crashed and broke almost in front of me," said a shaken Naomi Palmer who was seated at seat number D8.
Palmer said she was feeling some pain and was being supported by a friend on the outside of the arrival area when she spoke with the Observer.
Emergency vehicles sirens could be heard in the background as she spoke via cellphone.

Re: AA Plane overshoots runway in Jamaica
Sounds like the exact same kind of accident we had up here in Toronto four or five summers ago. Air France plane went off the runway and broke in two. In that case no one died and there were no serious injuries. I pray that is the case here as well!!!
