definitely gonna check that out, but...first I would offer some conjecture. for pakistan, it is obvious they gain literally nothing from the united state's involvement in afghanistan. in fact, just the opposite. they are completely in the muck. the balance of power is tenuous. one of the reasons why the admin asked for afghanistan to fork over bin laden in the first place. they only invaded when that was refused. recently, pakistan under musharaff ceded large tracts of their territory to taliban rule, where al qaeda retreated to once driven from afghanistan. which turned that border into a joke. also, significant parts of their military are sympathetic, if not outright supportive of, the taliban. which is why musharaff's position was so volatile. now they are actually taking serious heat and suffering attacks, all because of the US and allied war and occupation. there is quite a bit of overlap in some of these border areas which recognize their own influence as a border, not the map.

so for pakistan, it's best if usama is dead, whether he is or not, since he is ostensibly the reason the US invaded Afghanistan.

the only thing stopping an outright invasion of pakistan is their nuclear arsenal. as a hobbyist when it comes to this kind of stuff, and strictly an armchair one at that, I'd say this fact does not escape Iran, either. which is one reason they are trying to weaponize their nuclear ambition and make it real. Right now, from Iran's perspective, they have major social issues and a foot practically on their neck. A caveat to all of this might be the thought that all of this war is unsustainable financially by the US, but I wouldn't hold that view for very long, because the United States is dealing with these wars almost as after thoughts, the citizenry nor industrial base is any where engaged in these wars- it's no where near the level, say, as WWII was, when the industrial base was focused on war, what, close to 95% or something, when the nation was a virtual war machine.

Before that, after 22 seconds, a 911 Commissioner slips up and says a missile hit the Pentagon.
