vannie, to what mi recall, some people woulda ting dem dance deh, all rentatile, was inappropriately sexual. in fact, u'da find set of people who thought any cultural dance (read, &quot;african tradition-type&quot; dance) was wrong because it appeared sexual. missionaries go all the way to africa fi tell dem that what was normal to them by way of cultural expression was wrong according to christian standards - despite the fact that within those original cultures there existed the social taboos and checks.

vannie, our posts crossed. regarding the &quot;colonial descendant&quot; i think she is facing the same split in reaction that an african descendant would face.

the social ills that are being attributed to dance are in my opinion rooted in bigger issues. if people are sexing in a public dance, it means lines have been erased in terms of what is acceptable in public space and that may relate to the broader sense that in society there is no control. it shouldn't mean that all apparently sexualized dance in unacceptable.

No one will disagree wid dat .. BUT again the video you posted.. to ME does not come close to being immoral. I didn't see a vidoe of a little girl grinding on a little boy and carrying own leud sex act in public. I saw a little girl showing off a talent [ dancing ] in the comfort of her home. I saw nothing more

u know Wendy, we might say we see that and i agree wid u BUT it goes that people might say this but come time wen it count, dem see a diffrant ting...is di said reason rape cases r hard to fight in court..we mite say we r use to seeing scantily clad women n it is fashion ,but come a rape case and it becomes she was asking feet dressed dat way...juries have proven the cross purpose thinking time n time again...
