Just working my way through the Gloria Steinhem article. No one forced these women to take these jobs. They enthusiastically slutted themselves up, lined up and applied for them.

Okay men engaged in tail-pulling, propositions, pinching, ogling, and trying to get them to meet them away from the club and go back to their hotels. TOTAL Dawgs....not surprised. The women did not get the pay they were promised.

Reflecting on her role:

"Some things I don't regret, because it did improve working conditions, just as one example, you know. ... The waitresses had to have internal exams and Wassermann tests for venereal disease, and they were told it was a requirement of the state -- hello -- it wasn't at all. That changed, some things changed, and exposed it as tacky, which it really was. The Playboy Club was profoundly tacky, I have to say, and people did not get promised wages, so they had a tough time keeping people."

Steinem's career of activism began when she graduated from Smith College in 1956. Women had few opportunities back then. Women were not allowed to run in the Boston Marathon or even have credit cards without their husband's permission.
As a young journalist, Steinem helped change the tone when she co-founded in 1971 an outspoken magazine called Ms.
Steinem said of her magazine, "There was really nothing for women to read that was controlled by women."
Ms. was instantly successful, selling out 300,000 copies in just eight days when it published the names of women who had abortions. It made domestic violence a national issue by showing the face of a bruised woman on its cover, and long after she retired as its editor, her legacy continues.
In an interview featured in the new HBO documentary, Steinem tells a reporter, "You have to understand, we are not trying to do to men what men have done to us. We're trying to humanize both roles."
But Steinem did not always win - even with some women.

And, in 1982, the women's movement failed to add the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. it would have assured that women had the same rights as men. It was setback, but not one that would deter Steinem from her lifelong work.
Steinem said on "The Early Show" the big challenges today involve reproductive rights.
She said, "(It's) the right of an individual to decide when and whether to have children. That is terribly important for women, obviously, because it's the greatest determinant of whether we're healthy or not, poor or not, educated or not, in public life or not and, as we can see from the opposition here to reproductive freedom, that is the idea the government should make these decisions; you know, we're not there yet. We now have, more or less, the idea, and certainly approval of equal pay -- we don't have it yet -- but still the work that's done in the home, the work of nurturing and taking care of invalids and family members and so on, which is about 30 percent of productive work in the country, has no economic value, and you could give it an attributed value."
Asked by Jarvis if she would do that, Steinem said, "Yeah, well, you know, other countries have begun to do this. Listen, we like to think that this country is the best, and in many ways I think it is, because it has hope, which is very important, but in terms of representation, for instance, political representation in our national legislature, we're 70th in the world, seven zero."

The article, Hugh Hefner and even Gloria Steinem is merely to say that yes these women took a job, but even as we can assume the worse, as you can see her expose proved the women were being victimized and forced changes.
20th Century Fox is not registered as a brothel and no matter what the suss was, no matter how skimpy the dress code was, Mr. Salty Balls, was a serial abuser and he has met his comeuppance.

Also do women really think that when they wear "uniforms" with their boobs hanging out and nothing but a string hitch up in dem batty they will be treated like Sunday School teachers.

Four days after the ouster of Roger Ailes as Fox News chief, two more executives at the network have been axed.But the firing of Michael Clemente and his top deputy, Peter Boyer, were not related to the sexual harassment allegations that forced Ailes out at the network that he started two decades ago, two Fox executives said Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss personnel issues.
Clemente was executive vice-president of news at Fox until April, when he was demoted and put in charge of a new division for specials and long form programming. He worked at ABC News before coming to Fox.

Fox says it is reevaluating that division as it concentrates on the election over the next few months.Ailes resigned Thursday after being sued by a former Fox anchor who alleged she was punished for resisting his sexual advances and complaining about an atmosphere of harassment at Fox. Other women have come forward, and published stories last weekend quoted a woman who said she was victimized by another Fox executive who had since left the network.
Clemente's name has not been mentioned in any of the reports. It would make the timing of his firing particularly awkward.

Gloria Steinem worked at the New York Playboy Club in 1963. She was able to document working conditions which less than ideal. Her expose forced some changes at basically what is a strip club.

In a civilized country of laws, workplaces have rules and regulations, they have to follow, no matter how horny the boss and his help get.
20th Century Fox is not the Playboy Club, it is a media organization. The fact is, ole green balls lured fragile women into his trap and took advantage of them.
That it was revealed today, after decades of abuse, maybe it is unfortunate, but the women are the victims here, not Mr. Potato Head!

Yes she did do a service to forward the cause of women in the workplace, even occupations that some of us may frown on.

Now the dawg should learn to keep it in his pants, we are in agreement with that. Just because she goes along with it does not negate the fact that he is a pond scum and a TOTAL dawg of the highest order.

However, if woman willing dresses like a slut, gives a guy a EDIT and to get ahead, how in the world does that make her a victim?

I am not talking about rape. I am talking about a man in power propositioning a woman and she goes along with it because she thinks it will help her career. She should have NO right to play the sexual harassment card. Once again I am not including women like domestic helpers who have few options. These blondes with big boobs and PLENTY of options. They could easily have said no, quit, found another job, and filed harassment charges. Speaking up 50 years after the fact is ridiculous.
