Funny thing about medication you take for depression. All of the warnings tell you that if you start having suicidal thoughts while on the medicine to tell your doctor. I don't know which is worse, the disease or the treatment.

do all antidepressants give the taker suicidal thoughts? Or does it allow what is presently there to be manifested and dealt with?

I would think if you are on anti depressants it would be good to be in therapy to discuss what made the person depressed so they can deal with it and move on.

No not all, just that depending on the chemical embalnce within the pseron, the type of medicine etc., the mix can be bad. Like almost all medicines sometimes the dosage needs to be adjusted, or the brand or type of meds. This is especially prevelant in teens, and this young man, after alll, was only 18.

Antidepressant does not really make the person suicidal.
What it does is to make them uninhibited.
that result in the loss of fear to do dangerous activities or to die.
So that is the catch 22.
too much of the drug end up with the same result one is avoiding, but because it is addictive, the dosage have t be adjusted.

Oxycontin is a narcotic, a pain reliever. It isn't an antidepressant drug. You said that antidepressants are addictive and make people less inhibited, and that just isn't true.

Soh dem saying that Marie has her suicidal moments as well?

With depression, when the person is showing interest and more active, this is the time to watch them for they are now stronger/energetic to carry out the act.


It is very sad to know that after all these years the medical and psych powers that be cannot come up with good treatment modalities to control [better] this awful dread &quot;dis-ease&quot;.

There is NOT enough money earmarked for psych research; not enuff.
