i don't think Jamaica is locking anybody out.... but just like every other sovereign country if you want to establish long term residence you should go through the appropriate channels.

They said that no matter how carefully you fill out the paperwork it is always &quot;wrong&quot; and has to be resubmitted (of course with hefty fees charged each time). Does anyone know anyone who has suceeded through this process?????

so when these people applying for permanent residence is there any criteria they have to fulfill?..you know like when somebody applying to move to the US its based on a job offer or getting married..or in demand ski set or business investment or sumtin so.

to me this sounds like a ripoff. It signifies that something is inherently wrong with the system, ie BROKEN...an dem noh know what dem doing.

It sucks...15 years is a long time..welcome to inefficiency.

These folks I was talking to are in the construction business in JAMAICA AND HAVE big pretty homes.

Paying monthly rent ON TIME
Paying utilities ON TIME
Paying Cable ON TIME
No excuses...

spending money on services, putting money INTO the economy and taking none out. Why not have that person present proof of residence, receipts from FLO ,Digicel, Utility company, etc. then just let them pay the 10,000 and stay another 90 days.

I have, my mother in St Mary has, 2 of my aunts have and my favorite uncle in Bamboo, St Ann has.

Listen I feel you because they put my son in law to be out of here with a quickness. He was a productive law abiding person, but as soon as his student visa was up, they sent him and his American education back to Japan, so I feel you. It's just that mi love Jamaica, and I know the people I am thinking of who want to stay there longer love her too, and there is a post on here about not being able to pay the nurses, so why throw good money out when you can keep it just for sharing your beautiful country with those who want to stay.???? Just asking.

Almost every sector of the JA govt has a grift to it – disrespecting, defrauding, stifling, cheating and in some cases, literally killing her people.

How is this particular issue so different - so much more upsetting?
