Really just trying to understand it in a country that COULD really use the extra income. But I guess they have a right to host you or not, maybe not wanting to &quot;sell&quot; Jamaica for a fee...still and all, it could be a great source of income if properly handled.

Well since this one was personal for me, and I know the young man, I personal,ly did not see the harm in him, a working and productive, law abiding person, continuing to stay here, pay taxes and fees and buy good and services. However, the American govt. said you gota go, and that is what happened.

Meantime a bunch of illegal Mexicans are getting services and staying here undetected..

If they deport illegal immigrants across the board, they get criticized.

If they pick and choose, they still get criticized.

Sorry - so back to the question - was it wrong of the govt to hold him to the terms of his student visa - the terms that he agreed to when he accepted the visa?

As a student just out of school he could not afford that. He would have love to stay in Atlanta and pursue his music field.

Not true - an expensive atty isn't needed. There are good attys, believe it or not who can help. A whole host of agencies that can help.

That's the sort of work that I do. Only thing I do it for minors as a child advocate - long story.

What I'm saying is, there are other channels a person in this scenario could explore if wanting to remain.

And indeed, expensive atty or not, nothing is guaranteed.

Now me....on just this past trip, they stamped me for 7 MONTHS!!!!!

overstay and leave after the stamped date?

when they try to re-enter, customs officer stamp big old reject inna dem passport, their visa gets canceled and they get sent back on the next flight and have to wait a certain amount of yrs (depending on how long they overstayed) before they can re-apply for anothe visitors visa
