I see nothing wrong with the title as I witness Jamaican mothers being heavy-handed with their kids on the street, in the stores, at the airports, in church and even at the school gates on a regular basis.

Not to mention that the more colorful the weave, the tighter the leggings and the more visible the piercings are, is the bigger the threat to the child, from what I have observed.

It is what it is!

This is just accepting the stereotype/generalizations similar to the thought that all Jamaicans smoke weed ... The amt of beat downs of the abusive nature that I can say I've seen, do not justify such a classification but that may just be me.

Well, let's get over it....just because that was the way back then, doesn't mean we still have to do it today...

I went thru it with my kid's dad.... No WAY will I accept that in my life, or that of my son...!!

(You only give the O.k. that that is o.k. and that is NOT O.K.!!) Or do you want to pass it on...?!

We and our kids deserve a better way!!

The bible says that we should not save the rod and spoiled the child. What the mother did wrong was to give false information to Police but in their angry of what this daughter of hers did she maybe not even in her mind at the time and the first name came to her she gave it. Anyway because parents now a days see their children as brothers and sisters the morality in values are so low.

The bottom line for me is that, parents really do need to become more responsible and take more intellectually sound approaches to how they raise their children.

No one (and least of all the government) should have the right to dictate to parents how they should effectively discipline/raise their child(ren), UNLESS there is proof of abusive approaches.

The biggest problem in our ANYTHING GOES society today, is that parents are being irresponsible in many different ways (ranging from example to action) and will be quick to point fingers at any and everyone but themselves. We see them everyday being irresponsible, yet we will defend their right to be irresponsible.

The same people who deride parents who are a bit heavy-handed, in an attempt to keep their children from become statistics, will be the first to decry the influx of undisciplined, rude and unbearable child hooligans that run rampant in our society.

Well I grew up with my granmere and the wooden spoon was her constant friend on my body, any what part it connect on me when she rain blows. Then when she finished she would put Polysporin on and act like I caused her to hit me

I will say I was not an easy child to raise looking back now, anyway the last licks I got from her I was sixteen. I decided then and there that she would never hit me again and I will not say what I did to her. She ketch her scared and never hit me again.

btw my Granmere was European her motto was she not going to spare the rod and spoil the child. Funny thing though she would not allow anyone else to even say a cross word to me.

Rather did start a whole new thread I want to ask you guys if you heard about and what do you think about the lady on the airplane who snatched the 3 year old up, then threw it back in the seat and stated &quot;You are NOT going to kick the back of my chair all the way to Las Vegas&quot;

Then the flight attendent moved the lady to another seat and so they say she returned to the mother and child and threw some trash on them.

Now we only got on side of this, but have any of you ever been on a plane with annoying children that parents can't (or won't) reel in????
