while he did what any normal human being would do (going after the person that spat in his face), the hypocritical TTC management may charge him for leaving his "Equipment" unattended.
A TTC bredrn a mine just got off extended leave for the same thing. Someone spat in his face at Yonge/bloor station (he's subway) he jumped out the window caught the guy and broke his nose.
My friend got charged for leaving his equipment unattended (fortunately he didnt get charged for assault)

XX, is there a racial element to the above story or just general rude behaviour which in either case should not be condoned..

owning to the manipulation of information and the public by TTC's management, the frontline workers are treated like the scum of the earth by the riders.
While there sometines racially motivated, many times its just a result of how the TTC is percieved by the public and the fact that riders foolishly take their fustrations out on the operators.
I got fedup with corporate Canada a few years back, quit working for a director I realized was a frikin nazi, took a huge pay cut and drove TTC subway for awhile.. during that time i saved (foolish people and drunkards)lives was spat at by a coke head (that I was throwing off the train) and stabbed at by a Rasta (yup mi own Jafaken Rasta)
Not to mention my two suicides aka "platform emergency"
After 10 mths, I quit that crap..
That was the coveted Subway. Whit what i n=know now, no one could pay me to drive a bus or streetcar for TTC. The subway supposed not as bad as we just drove the trains, we didnt collect fares, so limited interaction with the public. Streetcar and Bus, the operator colelcts fares.. this is usually the point of altercation.
I'd prefer to drive a bus in the worst areas in Kingston, Jamaica before I'd drive a bus for TTC.
