I am looking at it from this stand point also...yuh si b/c fimi pickney dem <span style="font-weight: bold">KNOW </span> betta, me'da have issues wid any teacher who put dem han pan mi child.

When I was going to school in JA, it was <span style="font-style: italic">expected </span> that teachers/principals would beat kids in school. You got beaten if you were late for school, if you fought on the school grounds or in your school uniform on your way to/from school, if you did not do your homework. Hell, my 6th grade teacha woulda beat wi if wi come back from lunch and our uniforms were wet from sweating!!!! (yuh know how hard it is fi a play dandy-shandy an doan sweat???) no parents neva dida go a school fi goh lick dung teacha if dem beat dem pickney...dat was <span style="font-weight: bold">den.</span>

we got corporal punishment too Venn but this was different, she was kicking this kid and we all know once foot involve that pass discipline a disrspect dat.

I am sure that little &quot;angel&quot; is no angel at all however that was not a disciplinary action that is a brutal attack.

hell if i were that mother i'd file sexual molestation charges as it is evident she is trying to pull the child's pants off in school.

absi<span style="font-weight: bold">TIVE</span>ly. we were not EVER to disrespect teachers or principal, doing so would be no different than disrespecting/disobeying we own parents and we BETTER be prepared cause we were well advised that if we misbehaved in school and anyone had cause fo discipline us, we'd ketch it again when we reach home. (i was the 'good chile' but my poor brother, bway he was well naughty and paid for it many a time)

same with the parents on we block....<span style="font-style: italic"> every one</span> ah we was fair game and we all had BETTER behave and mind ALL de grownups, if we didnt we'd ketch it from the other parents first, and then they'd be on the phone to we own to let them know, and best believe we'd ketch it again when we reach home....

in them times parents and teachers were allies, not adversaries. there was none a this &quot;my chile can do no wrong&quot; business with parents going against teachers. them kinda parents are almost worse than their no-behavior children, cause they making it impossible for the teachers to maintain respect and disclipline in the classroom.

but, back to this topic - no matter how bad this child was, i agree this teacher had no right to do that and didn't handle it correctly atall.

SO maybe he is no angel, but the part of this that really disturbed me was when that kid backed into that corner and slid helplessly to the floor with true fear in his eyes. That part made me ill. Well all of it really, but that is the moment that really got me.

<span style="font-weight: bold">One thing I heard, was that the teacher was in her third year...time when new teachers should be finally &quot;getting it&quot; - what works and what doesn't, and with whom. Things is, homegirl isn't certified - and that's the risk that classrooms face.

Lemme tell you something - Inasmuch as student teaching was crazy hard (2 more days fi go) I appreciated it. In my last observation the students were just OUTTA CONTROL - and hear de ting - I was being observed AND GRADED. I turned to my observer, (thank God she's cool - not much older than me) and was like, WHAT IN THE WORLD JUST HAPPENED. They were outta control. Nothing I did worked. So can you imagine dis teacher, not having the education re classroom management to even think up a strategy that would help these students???

Dem ya situation ya dire and I pray that I will never lose my cool. My observer said she knew it was bad when my accent came out....and the worse thing was I didn't even hear miself. Education is needed - even though it never covers everything, it's a start.

<span style="font-size: 14pt">The second she realized that he was going in the &quot;I'M SO SCARED I THINK I'M GONN PEE MA PANTS&quot; aka the fetal position, she should have backed off. And I heard mature voices in the room, they should have stepped in. And when the video was about to end, I saw who looked like an adult, or a really big kid. </span>

but even I am not certified and mi wudda neva put mi han pan a chile...even doah di tawt crass mi mine several times...

I learn to work with my group and I know what makes them tick

some groups fear bad grades so dem will do de work an quiet

some fear administrative sanctions

some are fearless so yu haffi call in di necessary reinforcement (assistant principal, security guard, whomever dem fraid ah)

it jus so sad dat di teacher never have de support of di admin fi deal wid dis boy who from what i gather is a hot mess...in schools i have worked with they pull disruptive kids from classes and have a para work with them on a one and one basis....dat way dem get dem work done and the class get fi conduct in a peaceful manner..

anyways, it sad all di way around...

I'm on the other end of my teaching career; and I've learned that I'm not their parent, I'm not their friend, I'm not their victim. Corporal punishment in school is never, ever justified. I know teachers; and as a parent, if someone treated my child like this, I would file legal charges against the teacher, the school administration, the city, and whoever else I could think of. Then, when I had gotten legal satisfaction, even if it took years, I would quietly exact my own revenge.

You are taking things waaaay too seriously, if the only reaction you can think of is this behavior. I don't allow anyone, much less a child, cause me this much distress.
