Any idea how many Taino are left. How many full blooded and how many close to it.

I know many people in the States that have a Native American somewhere back in their ancestry so they are 1/16th or 1/32nd native American.

I would not consider them Native American but rather whatever predominates which is usually white European mix.

I did a quick web search on Tainos left and there is a site that says there are Taino remaining but mixed with Spanish blood. The site seeks to keep the Taino culture and heritage alive much as many Native American tribes who are now no longer pureblooded are doing to honor their historic cultures.

I know there are scholars going around the United States and trying to get down in writing or on tape the Native American languages that are now only remembered and spoken by a few older tribespeople.

A noble and valuable pursuit.

at last check I think it was at close to 90 TRILLION dollars. this term refers to all the money that is looking to invest itself to make more money.

the director of the un food for the poor has stated it would take about 3 billion dollars annually to end starvation as we know it. consider that the bonuses paid out to wall st execs last christmas was over 35 billion, if memory serves me correct, we can easily see the massive imbalance.

frankster, your post called to mind one of the scariest books I have ever read, perhaps you have read it, it is by an author named Gerry Mander (real name, ironically) and called "Four Arguments For The Elimination of Television."

to this day I will mostly use my tv to watch movies, hardly ever watch any tv at all.

like your thread title, i'm more focused on the <span style="font-weight: bold">jamaican diaspora</span>...
only the people acting in unity can defeat the large multinationals and the beast...
we already know they don't have the people's interests at heart...

but when your own people also work to defeat you, that stings much more...
