I figure that any intelligent being in the universe would be the result of thousands of generations of evolution, and live in a society with a language, that has some sort of writing or way of recording knowledge that allows for the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next. Earth had pterosaurs flying the in the sky for 175,000,000 million years... but recognizable humans have been around for 200,000 years. Will human beings endure a million years? </div></div>

Many of our astronauts have testified to the existence of intelligent life that is not of this earth and some have even call for disclosure by the Governments, France, Canada, England, and Belgium has already made disclosure, the US is doing it piece meal through the freedom of information act.

Contrary to what the Bible believers would tell you, the Earth, the universe has been around for billions of years.

If you took just the age of Earth and divided all that time up into a year, mankind would have come into being a few minutes before New Year's Eve, Dec 31st of that year.

Other planets near and far away can be much older or much younger.

Any civilization of intelligent beings that developed would have a very minute chance of developing anywhere near us in terms of time and or space.

If they had developed a few million years earlier nearby and visted Earht they would have found dinosaurs and no intelligent life (sort of a Jurassic Republican Party).

If they developed a few thousand or a few hundred years ahead of us but existed 165 light years away, it would take too long to get here and for what?

Arthur Clarke, one of the more prominent science fiction authors, wrote that it would take twice the bulk of any starship totally converted to energy to get that craft to about 3/4 light speed. He said exceeding light speed is not feasible because the speed of light is tied into how the universe is made. Were anyone to achieve FTL (faster than light) speed they would no longer be in this universe or something else unknown would occur.

Time and space pretty much rule out extraterrestrial visitors.

As for those who believe that ETs have visited, remember these &quot;visitors&quot; have not left so much as a cigarette butt, no genetic material, no ship parts NOTHING.

Claims that the &quot;government&quot; or &quot;they &quot; are hiding alien corpses are akin to the claims now on the right wing radio radio ads about health cures that &quot;they&quot; don't want you to know about or ways to get out of debt that &quot;the big banks&quot; don't want you to know about.

Listen, were any civilization so advanced that they could travel here over those tremendous distances they would have landed and said hello.
They would have to be way ahead of us in technology and would be neither hostile nor in fear of anything we (or Wolfie) might do to them as real heavy &quot;illegal aliens&quot;.

Visitations from other planets are not impossible but they are very improbable.

Put it this way, a visitor from another planet would be more likely than a visit from God but not by much .

Any visitor sufficiently advanced in technology and science would be indistinguishable to many from what they expect a God to be.

We are on the cusp of a great leap in human development when nanotechnology makes possible the merger of human and computer. It has been predicted it will happen in about thirty years.
The thought fascinates me.
The possibilities boggle the mind.

A fusion of minds, the accumulated knowledge of the race instantly accessible, the beginning of worldwide democracy -everyone eligible will vote with their mind connection, the end of poverty and war.

It will be a new beginning for humanity and the planet.

Again, anything is possible but probability is another thing.
If we continued in the socially backward way we have until now with the inequalities and injustices of capitalism and the electoral sham that is supposed to be a form of democracy then the singularity/fusion of which I speak would be subject to evil intent.

With the advent of universal understanding of all things pertaining to the moral and efficient workings of a society I do not expect that any immoral or evil use will be allowed by the electorate which would at that time in the future be equipped with effective democratic input.
If everyone is educated, if everyone is knowledgeable, if the truth is known to all, then democracy will be the rule and the economic and electoral totalitarianism we now suffer under will be impossible

What is very interesting is that all this will take place in about thirty years time and will eliminate so many of the problems of the world in very short order.

FACT IS WHERE FICTION HAS ALREADY BEEN.
When Jules Verne and H.G.Wells( to a lesser extent Leonardo Da vinci) wrote of space travel, rockets, submarines, flying machines, intercontinental communications and geo-synchronous satellites in the mid 1800's it was all thought impossible.
What history has taught is that fiction points to our possible future, every technology we have today first started out as a theory - an idea in the Mind.

There is evidence that we are not the first, but they are many schools of thoughts and ideas sorrounding the meanings of these circumstancial evidence, as well as how credible they are.

i hate to quote myself but i do want to call attention to the vid posted here. he's not the only theoretical physicist to squeak out something about aliens of late, Mr. Hawking recently made quite a stir as well.

Kaku states at the end that few of us think twice about learning how to send electromagnetic bursts at ants to let them know we are here, for example.

I mean it's entertaining, and plausible....if nothing else.
