A star player on the St. Lucia soccer team was shot and killed in a parked car early today following a fight at a Brooklyn nightclub, authorities said.

Isidore Phillip Tisson, 28, left the club with a woman and two other men and then stopped at a bodega at 361 Utica Ave. in Crown Heights, police said.

They got in the car at about 4:30 a.m. and shots rang out as a gunman fired a shot that hit Tisson in the head, police said.

"He was out celebrating with friends and family," said Martin Daniel, president of the St. Lucia Soccer Alliance USA Inc. "They were at Tropics Lounge, at Carroll Street and Utica Avenue. He wasn't in any fights. I don't know if anything happened."

Dem used to play it [on some of the side streets]at least when Bob was alive...but yuh get di jriff...*we* go to the Parkway and jump up and give this false impression that *we* are so pro-Africa and pro-black, still yet we kill each other like flies at the drop of a hat...why??? Where's the BROTHERLY love????

by and large we are far from being pro-black or pro-african...

the murder rates of blacks by blacks in american inner-cities and in the caribbean &amp; africa as well proves that the self-hate is well entrenched...

personally, my theory for all the killing is brainwash-induced self-hate combined with poverty &amp; lack of opportunity in some cases...
leads to the results we see in the american ghettoes, the caribbean, &amp; african civil wars...
no way around it...
africans/blacks for the most part still hate themselves so they hate anyone who looks like them as well...

i came up in brooklyn..

and trying to not get shot was just a daily part of life...
dodging bullets at home and at school was a regular thing...

shootouts with machine guns occurred regularly at dances &amp; block parties...

in other words the black youth shooting up their communities saw no value in their lives or in the lives of the people, including children, who lived in the community

I can only echo these sentiments; and every time I hear of a black *man* being murdered by another black *man* this is one of the first thing that goes through my mind..

Rev Al cannot do it alone, Jesse Jackson doesn't care any longer; [it seems] Farrahakan has been painted in an ugly light, worse how he is from NOI...but if you get mi jriff, where are the leaders to remind us that it is okay to get along and respect each other and each other's life?

...and this is one of the most telling of your posts...just this maawning, I thought about this and reflected how some view the black male in America as *an endangered specie*...from rogue coppers killing them to their own murdering them in cold blood

...I think there were some stats out recently which showed the possibility of black YOUNG MALE getting killed before he reaches a certain birthday..

You notice you never see a float with &quot;STOP THE KILLING&quot; on the sides of the truck on the Paaawkkway...I think, if a anything it would be a target for bullits, rather than heeding the message.

Even that, the jump-up that was to bring us together and show a sense of pride, got disorganised, out of control and now spells more trouble and problems for many.

the parkway is different now...i used to have fun out there back in the day regardless...

now it is much more controlled by the cops which many think is a good thing but it loses some of the fun that way... a tradeoff i guess;

well that councilman who lived in crown heights who was killed was doing some things in regard to the violence...sometimes i wonder if he was killed <span style="font-style: italic">because</span> of this work...was it in someone's interest to keep the community blood-soaked

anyway he is dead and no one is taking up the torch...
i realize the fact that our black youth killing each other at alarming rates barely gets any mention, but let a white cop kill one and there will be marches &amp; protests (rightfully so)...i laugh when i see these so-called experts discuss this issue
(which is very rarely discussed by those in power)...

i have witnessed too many murders &amp; been shot at too many times to skin teeth with these guys...

these guys are not enough...
the men of the community have to reclaim it...this is the problem;
it is the youth who control the community instead of the men...when the youth do not fear the men of any community/people, that community/people will be in disarray as we are seeing; (not to undermine the role the women play, but it is the male which must strike fear into careless male youth)...
black men must take back the community by force if necessary and let the young'uns know when they are doing wrong...
there is no other way...the inmates are running the asylum

I hear you and the community can really help by being better role models especially the women who are raising these boys.<span style="font-style: italic"> [&quot;the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.&quot;]</span>

Some of them leave these boys to raise themselves [speaking of homes without Dads.]

The older men cannot take on these predators who have no self-control, self-esteem name it and claim it and common sense to realise that they are destroying THEMSELVES...


...they know that they won't have a record so to speak if they go to jail becozz they are underage, and the ammo that they are packing, the old men cannot match it...plus the older men fear getting shot and dying and leaving their children...

We have many black people running for political office, surely they could help in bringing about an awareness that black ppl are sick and tired of being sick and tired of the crime and violence especially MURDERS that plague their neighbourhoods and to DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE ABOUT IT NOW.

Of course it will take more intervention from every resource available but at least we have to start somewhere, and awareness is a key component in all this.

Years ago we used to hear from Una Clarke when certain crime is done in the neighbourhood, now, no one hears from the daughter...yyyyy?

Turning point - in my mind's eye - was years ago, after the shooting on the Brooklyn Bridge in the 90's (I think '93 or '94) alllll went down hill.

Tensions were high before, sure - but that did it for me.

It's very sad to hear of this unfortunate incidence taking the life of someone who could have made a difference if only he had the chance. This refrain has been played so many times all across the N.American continent...

In reference to the above, I agree with the sentiments and objectives of all that is said.. However, when we pause, look back and analyse, we have to ask ourselves the question; Why after so many years with so many black leaders in the various black communities across America, there seems to be little or no progress made when it comes to &quot;black&quot; teen crime and violence against each other?

Faithful has put her finger on part of the problem, noting that who is left of the &quot;old guard&quot; can't do it alone. Many older adult men are more pre-occupied with their families and career and IMO, the younger &quot;would be leaders&quot; are not prepared to join forces with others to take up the cause for reasons known only to them ; we can only surmise... It's my &quot;take&quot; that there is a convergence of circumstances that creates the situation that causes our youths to become &quot;macho&quot; young men, developing into self haters and killers of their own kind..
