Of course China is now the fastest growing and most vibrant economy in the world and you don't need a Jim Rogers to tell you that China is going to be a good place to invest if you have the money to do that.

The Chinese themselves will have another revolution within fifteen years IMO.

JC, based upon what I am researching. The Bolivarian Revolution is not uplifting the massive out of poverty. Instead there is food shortages and a downward trend in average citizens way of life.

It all depends on a couple of things, your particular political viewpoint, what you choose to read, where you get your news.
Have you read the Wilpert article to which I posted a link?

It gives both the positive and negatives of the Bolivarian Revolution. I do not think you could read that and say that the Venezuelan people are not better off under Chavez than they were under any other government since independence.

Just as in Cuba however there is a democratic majority in Venezuela that supports what Chavez is doing and has for 12 years.

About your research, if you are using right wing sources such as the U.S media, or clearly anti-Chavez websites /sources, you won't get a fair picture of anything.

You'd need purely scholastic sources and articles such as published at ZNET in order to get the facts or any sort of balance picture of things.

The fact is and this IS fact whether you'd care to believe it or not that the truth has a left bias.

For instance, you posted that there is a food shortage and a downward trend in average citizens's way of life that MAY (or may not) be true but you failed to note that their is a worldwide recession that has affected Venezuela along with the rest of the world and that the poor of the rest of the world are far more adversely affected than are the oil-subsidized people of Venezuela. These adverse effects in Venezuela are of recent vintage and with the rise in the price of Venezuelan oil, likely to be far more temporary in Venezuela than in the rest of the developing world.

This is covered in Wilpert's comprehensive review of the past 12 years in Venezuela but not likely in any source you have that is from the corporate media or anti-Chavez sources.

Were they of that mind they would spend their money promoting a socialist economy.

You are correct of course.
I am a dedicated and principled democratic socialist (communist) and will always speak up for the greater good that socialism has done and is capable of doing in future socialist states.

That said, I do not overlook the shortcomings of the Cuban system and recommend the Havana Times website for accounts of problems in today's Cuba because these accounts are written by Cubans and have the ring of truth to them. I recently recommended and linked Gregory Wilpert's article which while in general praise of the Bolivarian revolution in Venezuela , also had some valid criticisms.

What I object to is the posting of articles that are anti-socialist anti-Cuban anti-Chavez and which come from ridiculous right wing websites and which have no scholarly or intellectual basis in fact.
These sorts of websites are legion. There are fifty to every one with any intellectual or objective validity yet those who post from these websites take them as gospel or somehow as useful in debating the issues when they are patent (and easily shown) trash.
The reason for so many anti-socialist websites and the dearth of pro-socialist websites is easy to explain. There are perhaps 3% of the populations in the U.S and Jamaica that are socialist minded and perhaps 75 percent who are right wing or liberal both of which tendencies are anti-socialist , anti-Cuban, anti-Chavez.

The preponderance of these trash websites will inevitably mean that most people looking for information on Cuba but not well informed to begin with, will gravitate by sheer odds to a right-wing anti-Cuban/ anti-socialist website .
Not being informed they will often assume that what they are reading is the truth when it is propaganda which is always made up to resemble the truth.
When you add on top of the disinformative websites I mentioned the overall anti-Cuabn, anti-socialist leanings of the mass media, you get a disinformed, uninformed and misinformed populace as a whole.

Without realizing it, by sitting in front of the TV or reading Time magazine or the N.Y Times people absorb volumes of propaganda and internalize it to the point that when they run into the truth , they cannot recognize it as such.

So....my whole point is that while I am a supporter of socialism and will always speak up for it, you will never see me post anything that is unsupported by facts.
I am extremely careful about what I reference , whom I cite in regards to the factuality of the content.

You cannot say that about those in opposition and the long running debates in which I have been involved should clearly show this to be true.

AsI have said on several occasions, the truth does have a left bias.
You will not find lies and inaccurate information at ZNET nor at TomDispatch which are the two websites I most often cite as sources for what I claim and believe .

On several occasions I have challenged those with whom I debate to find a single error of fact in not only the particular article which I have cited but from any article at ZNET. To date no one has done so.
Conversely I have more often than not pointed out the lies and inaccuracies in fact and methodology in countless posted articles from the right.

It's a Mohammed Ali sort of thing. He used to run around yelling &quot;I am the greatest&quot; and he could do that because he certainly was.

I can confidently affirm that what I claim to be fact is indeed fact because that is my record with perhaps one or two exceptions in ten years at this website.
I may not be the world's foremost authority on anything but then, in the realm of the blind, the one-eyed are kings.

That said, if you think I'm wrong by all means let me know of it.
