You gotta post the reason given in the news segment for the abundance of fast food on the island, as it wasn't always like this. They have a long way to go to reverse the obesity epidemic.

I am not a fan of fry chicken cause frankly I love my arteries just the way they are
-unclogged and pumping my blood
and if I have to ear fatty food I will
always choose oxtail over fry chicken
I don't have a problem eating watermelon in public, it's usually cut up in small
pieces mi nuh know anywhere that serve dem gigantic pieces like that picture above.
Either way if I am out in public and starving I will eat whatever is available
and if a ongly dat den mi nah guh starve fi mek no point.Comment

Yes, it's true that when fast food /food from off the island with the advent of jet planes they stopped eating the traditional diet of fruit, fish etc. and went for the crap.
That's got to be true of all the other islands mentioned.
I do know that on Hawaii that being fat traditionally was considered good before the white man came..Comment
