Privately they wont be taking it very well,but publicly they are not saying much for now,they will get obvious jitters,Egypt was the only arab nation to have a peace deal with Israel,and mubarak was the lynchpin that was keeping stability in the region,Israel will naturally be worried about someone taking over that is not as pro Israel as mubarak was.

I expect the US is also worried for the very same reasons,even though they are talking publicly as if they are behind the people,privately they too will be worried about potential anti- Us/israeli leader emerging,...the majority of young people in egypt still see israel as the enemy.

I've already made comment on this but it bears repeating:
The gas line that was blown up in Egypt supplies Israel with 40% of its natural gas needs.THis deal was put in place in defiance of the will of the Egyptian people and most likely in working with the United States wishes in the area.

IF and it's a BIG IF, the Egyptian uprising results in a democratic government, that deal will be ended quickly as will the present cooperation with Israel in the persecution of the Palestineans in Gaza by the sealing the Gaza/Egyptian border by the Egyptians.

Not many news outlets are talking about these likelihoods.

The U.S. "donates" some 1.3 billion in military aid. This is money or armaments.
The money has to be used by the Egyptians to buy military equipment from U.s manufacturers like McDonnell-Douglass etc.
The Abrams battle tanks you see in the pictures at Tahrir Square are U.S made tanks bought with the 1.3 annual military "aid".

You should know that up until now all the arms bought with this money by Egypt are for the purpose of suppressing dissent and that has worked just fine up until the crowds of protestors grew to such a huge numbers that military suppression would have involved deaths unacceptable to the U. S. public and then the government.

Most Americans think that the U.S GIVES 10% of the national budget to the poor of the world. The actual figure is less than 7/10ths of one percent.
Mist U.S "aid" is in the form of military supplies intended to suppress uprisings of the sort we are now seeing.

The United States foreign policy has never been about doing good in the world.
If you think that it is go here and just read the INTRODUCTION and then perhaps the chapter on Guatemala 1962-1980

Money can corrupt almost anyone. It is said that everyone has his or her price.
I heard this evening that the Swiss banks had frozen Mubarak's secret accounts and those of Ben Ali (Tunisia ) and Mbagbo of Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire).

We must not lose track of the fact that it is the United States that is behind all of this.
Egypt would not have treated the Palestineans as they did/do nor be as friendly/neutral as it is with the criminal state of Israel were it not for the corrupting influence of the United States.

We must also not lose track of the fact that it is greed, is money that drives U.S foreign policy. At the base of everything is the corporate greed that demands control of the world's resources that drives that foreign policy.

The love of money IS the root of all evil.

The Bible says that we cannot worship both God (morality) and money (greed) .
The choice was made at the top levels of corporate power to worship greed and this is what comes of it.

It is long past time we spent as much money and effort in alleviating the suffering of humanity as we have in inflicting that suffering for so many long years..

ONE WAY he made all that money was by putting his son in charge of foreign business deals, where backhanders and under-the-table money is rife.

I am always amazed that we are told that African history is being mis taught.. Here we are at a moment in History where two African nations rose and got rid of the dictatorship.. it was a confluence of the workers the middle classes and the university interlectuals.. These moments of cross class unity are rare.. it happened in Cuba, in Iran twice in the 50's, in Russia in 1904, 1919, in France in the 18th and 19th, in the Soviet union i the 1990's, in Jamaica in the 30's....

Yet what is discussed ??? The USA....

They here like all the other CIA coups were periferal to the events.. (It is interesting that yesterday morning the Foreign minister in Cairo was telling off the US in the usual veild clichéd clips.. I was expecting the deflection of war on isreal .....)

Egypt and Tunisia have had revolutions many times before.. .. Pliny the Elder was wrong it is not something new comes out of Africa.. It is something surprising..

Do not reduce the events directed by Africans, for africans, played by Africans to
pawns of yankis or white men....
Yankis may give 1.5 billion a year but the Saudis give twice that in aid... yet funnil the egptians are not pawns of the Saudis...odd and it is a myopic view of history...

America is 1% Jewish and 25% Catholic yet Israel getting billions and Vatican not getting a penny.
