my understanding is this.
The City of Toronto is in this thing where they are hiring based on knowing your east indian or muslim based on the name on your application..
for example, if your name is say Carl Johnson--you could be black or white
but if your name is Mohammad Sameer or Gurpreet Singh-they automatically know without physically seeing you in person based on the name on you application that you come from a quote &quot;visible minority&quot;
then they have hiring quotas so they get the job. </div></div> managers are lazy..they take shortcuts

no Nunya,,,,i was more happy when they were hiring people who could speak engish at a level 5, not a level 2 sub standard english.
we have a couple muslims and sri lankans in our department who can barely speak proper english, know squat about the science of laying salt on a road in a snow storm (yes there is a science behind how much salt to put on a road,how much brine, outside temperature and road temperature) these guys do everything azzz backward and the poop hits the fan.
last week Mohammad Khan sent the salt trucks out (which costs the city alot of money) 24 hours after the snow fell, then had us lay the salt and brine all while the temeprature was -12. the guys an idiot who knows squat but got the job on the token ticket

I agree with HO,I dont think anyone should be hired simply because of their colour or racial ethnicity,I believe everyone should be hired based on their qualifications for the post.
What should be happening is that blacks and other minorities get a fairer crack of the whip than they did before,meaning no one should be excluded based on their colour or ethnicity,it is racist to hire a person simply because he is white,so it should be for blacks,and any other minorities.

I certainly would not want to be in a job merely to fill a quota,I want to be hired based on my qualification/abilities and or experience for the position.

I work for the City of Toronto.theres no better understanding than actually witnessing it first hand.
because Ive seen People get hired there on the premise of there race. Mr Khan for example. has NO CLUE to his job, is a continual screw up, but got the job to fill a &quot;quota&quot;
last round of Hiring, They had six positions in Solid Waste Management open for the public to apply. Evry Canidate selected was Indian and all the hires were east indian or Pakistani

In Toronto, Affirmative Action only applies to certain races.

In Toronto, Affirmative Action only applies to certain races. </div></div>
In Massachusetts it depend on what party in the state house as govnator.

The former Republican governors only recognized women and gays as minority.
There has been a change Since the present governor took office.

so if your main concern is pakis....why do you refer to it as BLACKtion?...
to me this implies some kind of exclusive link to so-called black people...

do you oppose affirmative whiteion?
