Yes, it's finally here! Newton is up in Willow Alaska tonight after a short trip from Anchorage during the ceremonial Start of the race. Tomorrow is the big one! our beloved Newton is out on the trail again for the next week and a half or so.

I started a thread in the Sports section and will be updating it regularly.

Just two more hours and some until the start!


I was at Snowflake International today and spent a little time hanging out with Damian Robb, Jamaica Dogsled Team Sprint Musher <span style="font-weight: bold">EXTRAORDINAIRE</span>, and Ken Davis, Robb's trainer.

ROBB WON FIRST PLACE!

He was flying! I want to shout it out to the WORLD how great these two guys are (and Jermain who is the newest member is a serious contender as well).




There, I went and did it, I derailed my own thread, but dang, these guys are ON THE MOVE and doing so great!

Hi Gen, I imagine ESPN will have some coverage for Newton this year,. (I HOPE!). I don't know that they follow the Sprint Mushers at all, but we have had an ongoing thread in the pet Forum (sticky) for the past two and some years that contains updates, loads of photos and links. Sistah D and I have done most of the updating, but we try hard not to miss anything!

You can get the most exclusive Iditarod coverage at the official Iditarod Website. You can see quite a bit of coverage for free, and much more with a paid subscription. I even have a GPS added to mine so I can watch where the Mushers are at, at any time. Love the technology. I had the subscriotion last year and it was well worth the cost.

Do you remember the party we all had in here the night Newton finished his first Iditarod? No matter what time of day or night it is, I hope we can do it again this year! There was live video and it was amazing to see.

OHHH and as long as I am at PLUGGING...Today I bought my copy of the book ONE MUSH, which looks beautiful upon thumbing through it. Robb autographed my copy which was so nice...

Newton has left the start line! Just a few minutes ago, as long as it took me to screen print and upload...

I was slightly peeved that they played a commercial at the time Newton was to leave, ( It seems to be a every few musher happening, grrr)...and the only thing I got to see was the back of him as he left, but that's the way it goes. Otherwise, I hope they fix the connection, there are a lot of unhappy campers in the Insider chat room right now...it is spotty, runs good then craps out.

Anyway, here is Newton leaving the start line!

The dogs from Jamaica, stay in Jamaica. Robb is running with dogs belonging to trainer Ken Davis, of Twig Minnesota. Ken and his wife Donna, are awesome people!

I nabbed this shot of Ken today!





Ken and Robb leave for Canada tomorrow, where Robb will catch a flight back to Jamaica, then Ken is off to New jersey for the dry land Championships! Kia, maybe it is near you! Ken will be there to represent, and is hopefully picking up some awards.

I sent Ken a message Kia, but I would imagine it is the same. Is it near you? If so, and you decide to go, Ken is a very nice easy to meet gentleman. You cannot miss the truck. I will have to find a pic later but it is getting to be that busy evening animal demanding time for a bit...
